Set amidst the razzle-dazzle decadence of the 1920s, CHICAGO tells the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her. Desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the public, the media, and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago's slickest criminal lawyer, Billy Flynn, to transform her malicious crime into a barrage of sensational headlines, the likes of which might just as easily be ripped from today's tabloids.

This particular production, a revival production based on the original 1975 Broadway production, opened on Broadway at the Richard RodgersTheatre in November 1996, which eventually transferred to the Shubert Theatre from Febuary 1997 to January 2003. It currently plays The Ambassador Theatre on 49th Street on Broadway.

CHICAGO, the Second Longest-Running Musical on Broadway, features music by Tony winners John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb; lighting design by Tony winner Ken Billington; choreography by Tony winner Ann Reinking, which has been recreated by David Bushman; musical supervision by Rob Fisher; costume design by Tony winner William Ivey Long; and sound design by Tony winner Scott Lehrer.
