Today we celebrate Black History Month by taking a closer look at After Midnight. Directed and choreographed by Warren Carlyle, it played for 273 performances at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. The revue is based on Cotton Club Parade, which ran in concert at Encores! in 2011 and 2012. The revue takes place 'after midnight' in New York's Harlem.

As BroadwayWorld reported yesterday, poet, novelist and songwriter Leonard Cohen passed away at the age of 82. His son Adam Cohen commented: 'My father passed away peacefully at his home in Los Angeles with the knowledge that he had completed what he felt was one of his greatest records. He was writing up until his last moments with his unique brand of humor.'

Over the weekend, Four-time Grammy Award-winner k.d. lang, who just concluded her engagement as "Special Guest Star" in Broadway's After Midnight, offered the audience a live, rare performance of her legendary rendition of the Leonard Cohen classic, 'Hallelujah' (which she famously performed at the 2010 Olympic Games Closing Ceremonies). She gave the special encore to raise money for The Actors Fund, and was joined on stage by the Tony Award-winning chairman of the organization, Brian Stokes Mitchell.

As previously announced, After Midnight, currently playing at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, just welcomed k.d. lang as special guest star. Lang will continue her Broadway run through March 9. On Saturday night, Madonna presented the Vito Russo Award to journalist, author and talk show host Anderson Cooper at the 24th Annual GLAAD Media Awards.
