Today we rewind to 2017, for the Encores! presentation of Big River. Directed by Lear deBessonet and choreographed by Josh Rhodes, Big River starred Nicholas Barasch, Charlie Franklin, Annie Golden, David Pittu, Kyle Scatliffe, Christopher Sieber, Lauren Worsham, and more. 

Today we rewind to 2013, when A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder was getting ready for Broadway. The musical premiered at Hartford Stage before arriving at the Walter Kerr Theatre, where it played for 905 performances.

For the second time in Encores! history-and to honor City Center's 75th Anniversary Season-the series is reviving one of its own revivals. A highlight of the second season of Encores! (1995) and featuring a memorable score by Irving Berlin and book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, Call Me Madam centers around a brassy ambassador to the fictional European nation of Lichtenberg. The show pokes fun at a far more polite and benign political world and includes standards such as 'It's a Lovely Day Today' and 'Something to Dance About,' along with Berlin's most famous counterpoint duet, 'You're Just in Love.' Directed by Casey Hushion with music direction by Encores! Music Director Rob Berman and choreography by Denis Jones, Call Me Madam will run for seven performances only February 6 through 10 at New York City Center.

New York City Premiere, Dog Days is a work of contemporary opera-theatre that investigates the psychology of a working class American family pitted against a not-so-distant-future wartime scenario. Exploring the ultimate struggle of humanity—stuck between nature's indifference and society's barely restrained brutality—Dog Days asks: is it madness, delusion, or sheer animal instinct that guides us through severely trying times? Where is the line between animal and human? At what point must we give into our animal instincts merely to survive?

'Kern & Hammerstein's Show Boat in Concert with the New York Philharmonic' aired just last week as part of PBS' LIVE FROM LINCOLN CENTER.This New York Philharmonic production features an all-star cast led by Vanessa Williams and Downton Abbey's Julian Ovenden, as well as Norm Lewis, Jane Alexander, Fred Willard, and Lauren Worsham. Coming to the Durham Performing Arts Center from October 13th-18th is the national touring production of the Tony Award-Winning musical, A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder featuring Adrienne Eller as Phoebe D'Ysquith. A Role originated on Broadway by Tony Nominee Lauren Worsham.

Brooklyn band Sky-Pony (fronted by Tony nominee Lauren Worsham of Broadway's A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder) is known for shows that bridge the gap between rock and theater. Earlier this week, they combined these interests with special show that included a cavalcade of luminaries from the world of Broadway at Joe's Pub. Special guests included Tony nominee Marc Kudisch (Hand to God, 9 to 5), Margo Seibert (Rocky, Tamar of the River), Alli Mauzey (Wicked, Hairspray), Lisa O'Hare (A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder), Catherine Walker (A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder) and Tony winner Duncan Sheik (Spring Awakening). Bryce Pinkham, who is currently starring in 2014's Tony Award Winner for Best Musical A GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO LOVE AND MURDER, has even more then performing at the Walter Kerr Theatre eight times a week to think about. Pinkham is the co-founder of an organization called Zara Aina (meaning 'Share Life') which brings theatre to at-risk children in Madagascar. Pinkham took a few minutes to chat with Backstage on Broadway about the organization. Watch the full video here!

The New York Philharmonic presents a semi-staged production of Kern & Hammerstein's Show Boat, running through November 8, 2014. SHOW BOAT stars Christopher Fitzgerald as Frank, Norm Lewis as Joe, Alli Mauzey as Ellie, Julian Ovenden as Gaylord Ravenal, Edward Watts as Steve, Fred Willard as Cap'n Andy,NaTasha Yvette Williams as Queenie, Vanessa Williams as Julie, Jane Alexander as Parthy, Erika Henningsen as Kim, and Lauren Worsham as Magnolia. All cast members will be making their New York Philharmonic debuts in this production. It's Tonys season! The 2014 Tony Awards will broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City, on CBS, on Sunday, June 8th 8:00 - 11:00 p.m. The ceremony is less than a week away, and in the meantime, BroadwayWorld wants you to get to know this year's nominees.
