That's right- we are opening up the BroadwayWorld Vaults to reminisce on shows are long gone from the Broadway-scene, but have left an indelible mark on the world of theatre as a whole. Last night, April 9, the company of LYSISTRATA JONES - including Jason Tam, Josh Segarra, Libby Servais, Liz Mikel, Lindsay Nicole Chambers, LaQuet Shamell and more - reunited at Joe's Pub for a special concert to celebrate their newly-released cast album (Broadway Records). On May 15, Broadway Records released the original cast recording of the Broadway musical, LYSISTRATA JONES, featuring music and lyrics by Lewis Flinn and book by Tony Award nominee Douglas Carter Beane. To celebrate the album release, last night, April 9, the company reunited at Joe's Pub for a special concert. BroadwayWorld was there and brings you a sneak peek of the fun below! In Broadway's LYSISTRATA JONES, The Athens University basketball team hasn't won a game in 30 years. But when spunky transfer student Lysistrata Jones (Patti Murrin) dares the squad's fed-up girlfriends to stop ‘giving it up' to their boyfriends until they win a game, their legendary losing streak could be coming to an end. In this boisterous new musical comedy, Lyssie J. and her girl-power posse give Aristophanes' classic comedy a sexy, modern twist and take student activism to a whole new level. The ladies of the new Broadway-bound musical LYSISTRATA JONES had the chance to meet Kris Humphries in happier days - specifically, October 12 when they shared a basketball court with him at Sports Club LA on the Upper East Side - the girls were training for their new Basketball-themed Broadway musical LYSISTRATA JONES with NBA Hall of Famer Chris Mullin. Since its premiere in Athens in 411 BC, the story has been told, and retold, and adapted and reinterpreted and re-situated.
