New Victory Announces 2020-21 LabWorks Artists

New Victory names nicHi douglas (where love lies fallow, Under the Radar 2020), ChelseaDee Harrison (2020 Broadway Advocacy Coalition Artivism Fellow), Nambi E. Kelley (National New Play Network Annual Commission 2020 Recipient) and Christopher Rudd (2019 John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellow) as the theater's 2020-21 New Victory LabWorks Artists.

National Black Theatre Launches NBT@Home

The Bushwick Starr and National Black Theatre's SKINFOLK Has Been Extended

The Bushwick Starr has partnered with National Black Theatre in presenting the world premiere of SKiNFoLK: An American Show, created by playwright and performer Jillian Walker (Blue Ink at Joe's Pub at The Public Theater, Sarah's Salt. developed at Roundabout Theater Company and MCC Theater), recent recipient of the NEA grant and the 2020-21 Tow Playwright-in-Residence at Soho Rep. The play is directed by Mei Ann Teo (Where We Belong at Shakespeare's Globe, Dim Sum Warriors at Shanghai's Theatre Above and national China tour).

The Public Theater's 16th Under the Radar Festival Kicks Off Wednesday

The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) begins performances for the 16th annual UNDER THE RADAR FESTIVAL on Wednesday, January 8. This popular and highly-anticipated festival of The Public's winter season will include artists from across the U.S. and around the world, including Australia, Chile, China, Japan, Mexico, Palestine, Taiwan, and the U.K. Curated by UTR Festival Director Mark Russell, this year's UNDER THE RADAR FESTIVAL continues to expand to venues throughout New York City, in addition to The Public Theater's home at Astor Place.

The Shed Launches Open Call Commissioning Program May 30

Open Call, The Shed's commissioning and programming initiative for New York-based emerging artists, launches on Thursday, May 30, with new works by seven artists and collectives presented in The Griffin Theater over six weeks. The inaugural program continues June 19 through August 25 with a group show of 22 artists and collectives in Level 2 Gallery and presentations of new work by 15 artists and collectives in The Shed's open-air Plaza; a fourth group will be presented in 2020.

Lightning Rod Special Adds Extra Performance To THE APPOINTMENT At Next Door At NYTW

Due to popular demand, Lightning Rod Special (LRS) creator of the Obie-Award winning Underground Railroad Game, will add one additional performance to the sold-out run of their newest critically-acclaimed work, The Appointment. The additional performance will take place on Sunday, May 4, 2019 at 3pm; the final performance will take place on May 4, 2019 at 7:30pm.
