East Lynne Theater Company Presents its 33rd Year of TALES OF THE VICTORIANS

The award-winning Equity professional East Lynne Theater Company's popular 'Tales of the Victorians' returns for its thirty-third year.  Take tea at a unique Cape May venue, indulge in tantalizing treats, and listen to stories by famous American authors like O. Henry, Zora Neale Hurston, and Mark Twain read by ELTC performers for only $12.00. Children are always welcome, and ages 12 and under are free.

The Muny announced today that Brittney Mack, Nasia Thomas, Evan Tyrone Martin, Tracee Beazer, Gilbert Domally and Nicole Michelle Haskins will star in the moving and affirming tale,The Color Purple, August 12-18, 2022. The Muny and Regional Premiere is directed by Lili-Anne Brown, choreographed by Breon Arzell, with music direction by Jermaine Hill.

Vincent Victoria Presents Producing Rare Zora Neale Hurston Plays

Award winning theater company Vincent Victoria Presents will be mounting for the first time in Houston, during Mother's Day Weekend, two rarely produced plays by Harlem Renaissance playwright, author, and anthropologist, Zora Neale Hurston. The two one act plays, 'Color Struck', and 'Meet the Mamma', were written in the mid 1920's but have seldom been seen onstage and were thought to have been lost until the 1990's.

TFANA will present Alice Childress’s Wedding Band. Director Awoye Timpo’s new staging, running April 23–May 15, brings Childress’s masterpiece to New York audiences for the first time since 1972, when it made its New York premiere in a production directed by Childress and Joseph Papp.

WBTT To Present the World-Premiere of RUBY Next Month

The world premiere show “Ruby” (which was originally scheduled for the 2019-2020 season but delayed due to COVID-19) is a musical retelling by WBTT founder/artistic director Nate Jacobs and his brother, Michael Jacobs, of the shocking killing of a White doctor in Live Oak, Florida, by a Black woman – Ruby McCollum – who was tried in the case and eventually committed to Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee, Florida.
