San Francisco Playhouse's IDEATION Opens Off-Broadway Tonight

San Francisco Playhouse's production of IDEATION, which had its world premiere at the Playhouse and won the 2014 prestigious William Glickman playwriting award, moves New York City, playing Off-Broadway at 59E59 Theaters as part of their 2015-16 5A series.

Playwrights Horizons Now Accepting $5 Lottery Entries for ANTLIA PNEUMATICA's First Preview

Playwrights Horizons begins accepting entries today, Wednesday, March 2, for the LIVEforFIVE online lottery for $5 tickets to their world premiere of ANTLIA PNEUMATICA, a new play by Anne Washburn (Mr. Burns, a post-electric play at PH; 10 Out of 12; Iphigenia at Aulis; The Internationalist).  Commissioned by Playwrights Horizons and directed by two-time Obie Award winner Ken Rus Schmoll (Iowa at PH, The Internationalist, The Invisible Hand, Red Dog Howls, Middletown, What Once We Felt), the play is the fifth production of the theater company's 2015/2016 Season.   

NYC Premiere of IDEATION to Close 59E59 Theaters' 5A Season

59E59 Theaters will wrap up the 2015/2016 5A Season with the NYC premiere of IDEATION, written by Aaron Loeb and directed by Josh Costello. Produced by San Francisco Playhouse, IDEATION begins performances on Saturday, March 5 through Sunday, April 17. Opening Night is Tuesday, March 15 at 7 PM. The performance schedule is Tuesday - Thursday at 7 PM; Friday at 8 PM; Saturday at 2 PM & 8 PM; and Sunday at 3 PM. Please note there is no performance on Saturday, March 6 at 2 PM.  Performances are at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street, between Park and Madison Avenues). Clurman Lab's 'MOTHER COURAGE', Set in German Beer Hall, Begins Tonight

The Harold Clurman Laboratory Theater Company is transforming Studio G at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting into a German beer hall in this lively production of MOTHER COURAGE AND HER CHILDREN by Bertolt Brecht and conceived by director John Gould Rubin, which will include live music as well as beer & sausages for purchase. Using a translation by Tony Kushner, the production will open tonight, January 28th, with performances running through February 20th.

Chautauqua Theater Company Sets 2016 Mainstage Season

Harold Clurman Playwrights Division Seeks Playwrights of Color

The Harold Clurman Playwrights Division, a program of the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, is now accepting new play submissions. In the eighth annual search for a resident playwright, the division is calling for new dramatic works written exclusively by playwrights of color. The division is also seeking ensemble plays for casts of seven to ten female roles or gender neutral roles; playwrights of all ethnicities are welcome to apply with an ensemble play.
