Nickel City Opera's 15th Season will bring a new American opera, The Falling and the Rising produced by the U.S. Army Field Band, Saturday, June 29th at 8:00pm and Sunday, June 30th at 4:00pm at Nichols Flickinger Performing Arts Center, 1250 Amherst Street Buffalo. On Friday, March 1st, A Night of Funny Stuff with Artistic Director, Valerian Ruminski and pianist Ivan Docenko accompanying in concert at The Meeting House, 5658 Main Street, Williamsville and the 15th Annual NCO Gala Dinner, Tuesday, June 25th at 6:00pm at Ilio DiPaolo’s 3785 South Park Avenue, Blasdell.

The Falling and the Rising centers around a strong female hero known only as “Soldier”. After sending a video message home on the eve of her daughter’s thirteenth birthday, the Soldier is severely wounded by a roadside IED. Doctors quickly place her in an induced coma to help minimize the extensive trauma to her brain. The Soldier must now make an arduous journey towards both healing and home.

San Diego Opera has announced that San Diego Opera board member for the past 28 years, and Opera Ball Chair for the past two, Sarah Brenda Marsh-Rebelo, affectionately known to her friends as Sarah B., has been named Honorary Life Director of the San Diego Opera. This marks only the seventh Life Director honor that the Company has bestowed in its 55-year history which was voted on unanimously at a board meeting on Monday, January 27, 2020.
