Beginning with the Los Angeles Philharmonic's 2010/11 season, four conductors will participate in the Dudamel Fellowship Program. Music Director Gustavo Dudamel, together with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, created the Dudamel Fellowship Program (in 2009) to provide a unique opportunity for promising young conductors from around the world to develop their craft and enrich their musical experience through personal mentorship and participation in the LA Phil's orchestral, education and community programs.

The symposium, which takes place May 6-8, 2010 at EXPO Center and Walt Disney Concert Hall, will focus on a global perspective on El Sistema-influenced programs taking root beyond the borders of Venezuela, utilizing the YOLA Expo Center Youth Orchestra Program and one of the ultimate icons of El Sistema, Gustavo Dudamel, as the case study. As the Walt Disney Concert Hall 2009/10 season closes, the Los Angeles Philharmonic embarks on an 8-city, 10-concert U.S. tour led by Gustavo Dudamel, his first as Music Director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. This, the orchestra's first coast-to-coast tour of the United States since 2001, starts in San Francisco on May 10 and May 11, and also stops in Phoenix (May 12), Chicago (May 14), Nashville (May 15), Washington, DC (May 17), Philadelphia (May 19), and Newark (May 21). The tour concludes in New York City with two performances on May 20 and May 22, 2010.
