Single Tickets for LA Philharmonic 2010-11 Season On Sale 8/22

Gustavo Dudamel and the LA Phil embark on their second season, one which features a greatly expanded presence for Dudamel in Los Angeles, with twelve weeks of subscription concerts at Walt Disney Concert Hall. During the 2010/11 season the LA Phil will present a vast spectrum of imaginative concerts, welcoming back old friends while continuing the tradition of introducing rising artists and composers.

The momentum and initiatives of Dudamel's inaugural season continue in 2010/11 with 12 new commissions, 9 world premieres, 5 U.S. premieres, 5 West Coast premieres, and Dudamel's first international tour as Music Director. The vibrant season embraces innovation, excellence and commitment to community, further embodied in the expansion of YOLA (Youth Orchestra Los Angeles).

2010/11 programming highlights include two composer-focused festivals, Brahms Unbound, which explores the complete symphonic cycle of the composer, and Aspects of Adès, during which the orchestra is entrusted to Thomas Adès, one of the most influential musicians of the 21st century. Continuing the LAPhil's dedication to the music and musicians of today, two defining partnerships are celebrated through the return of Esa-Pekka Salonen in his new role as Conductor Laureate and Creative Chair John Adams leading a concert on the Green Umbrella series.

The 2010/11 season also welcomes the renowned Israel Philharmonic with former LA Phil Music Director Zubin Mehta and Russia's oldest symphony orchestra, the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, with conductor Yuri Temirkanov. The Colburn Celebrity Series presents virtuoso performances by world-renowned artists. Members of the Los Angeles perform a series of chamber music concerts. The season also features distinguished guest artists performing series of baroque music, holiday concerts and organ recitals.

In addition to classical presentations, the 2010/11 season offers the best in jazz, world music and popular music. On Location artist Wynton Marsalis and Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra will premiere a new work with the Philharmonic, perform a Jazz series concert, inspire a Toyota Symphonies for Youth program and conduct educational outreach. The remaining Jazz series, helmed by Creative Chair for Jazz, Herbie Hancock, sees Natalie Cole, Brad Mehldau, and the legendary Hancock himself performing this season. The World Music series celebrates Ravi Shankar's 90th birthday, features flamenco singer Concha Buika with Lila Downs, and welcomes back both Yo-Yo Ma & the Silk Road Ensemble and the ‘samurai percussionists' of Kodo. The acclaimed Songbook series sees the iconic singer/songwriter Neil Sedaka make his Walt Disney Concert Hall debut, Michael Feinstein perform selections from the Great American Songbook, and an evening dedicated to the songs of Patsy Cline, one of country & western's most distinctive voices.
