Farquhar Links Up With BBC Poet In Residence Stuart Paterson for A PLAY, A POET & A PASTRY

Acclaimed playwright Simon Farquhar and BBC Scotland's Poet in Residence Stuart Paterson are joining forces on a project bringing world premiere drama to Scotland's oldest working theatre. The pair are teaming up for A Play, A Poet & A Pastry an initiative by Bunbury Banter Theatre Company in partnership with the Theatre Royal, Dumfries, which takes place on Friday, 24 November.

Beginning November 16, acclaimed actor Craig Wallace returns to Ford's Theatre to play Ebenezer Scrooge in A Christmas Carol a production heralded as a rich visual and vocal treat (TheaterMania) and infectiously jolly (Washington Post). Performances continue through December 31, 2017.

Amas Musical Theatre and The Amas Musical Theatre Lab will present staged readings of Play It by Heart, a new musical, with music by David Spangler, Jerry Taylor and Marty Dodson, lyrics by David Spangler, Jerry Taylor, R.T. Robinson, and Marty Dodson, and book by Willy Holtzman.
HGOco Commissions New 'Song of Houston' Operas

HGOco, Houston Grand Opera's community collaboration and education arm, has launched the next phase of itsSong of Houston initiative with commissions from two rising composer/librettist teams. Home of My Ancestors, by composer Nkeiru Okoye and librettist Anita Gonzalez, will premiere in March 2019. The not-yet-titled second opera, by composer Nell Shaw Cohen and librettist Megan Cohen, will premiere in March of 2021. A third commission will be announced at a later time. The award-winning Song of Houston is an initiative within HGOco that has been creating new works based on stories that define the unique character of Houston since 2007.

The Comrades have announced casting for their Summer 2017 production, IN THE WAKE by Lisa Kron and directed by Alex Mallory. IN THE WAKE will play the Greenhouse Theater Center (2257 N Lincoln Ave, Chicago) from July 27 through August 26, 2017. Press opening is Saturday, July 29 at 8:00pm.
The Community College of Rhode Island Players present Summer Repertory Series

???????The Community College of Rhode Island Players will present their first annual Summer Repertory series at the Knight Campus this summer. They will perform two Shakespeare plays, Twelfth Night or What You Will and The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, the first in July presented in the Bobby Hackett Theater, and the second in August presented in Room 0540. The plays will feature current CCRI students, CCRI alumni, a number of prospective CCRI students who are still attending high school, and a few outside guest artists.
