Ford's Theatre Society announced that it set revenue and attendance records with its 2016-2017 theatrical season, which included the musicals Come From Away and Ragtime, productions of A Christmas Carol and Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and the one-act play One Destiny. More than 153,000 patrons attended performances, and ticket sales brought in more than $6 million, making 2016-2017 the highest attended and highest grossing theatrical season in Ford's Theatre history.

The Comrades have announced casting for their Summer 2017 production, IN THE WAKE by Lisa Kron and directed by Alex Mallory. IN THE WAKE will play the Greenhouse Theater Center (2257 N Lincoln Ave, Chicago) from July 27 through August 26, 2017. Press opening is Saturday, July 29 at 8:00pm.

Monday night, a kickoff dinner was held honoring the 2017 Directors Project fellows. The dinner took place at the home of Broadway producers and BroadwayHD co-founders Stewart F. Lane and Bonnie Comley. The guest of honor of the evening was Moritz von Stuelpnagel (director of Present Laughter, Hand To God), who is a Directors Project alumnus himself.

Under the leadership of Jeremy Stoller, Keen's Director of New Work, writers meet throughout the year to create new plays that provoke identification, reflection, and emotional connection. The Playwrights Lab culminates with a reading of each new play in the spring, attended by the Keen community, the theater industry, and the general public.
