Majestic Theater Announces New 2017-18 Season

Gettysburg College's Majestic Theater hopes to "rock your world" of entertainment with its 2017-2018 Celebrity Season. "Every year I try to book a line-up of shows featuring popular headliners, as well as introducing the stars of tomorrow," said Jeffrey W. Gabel, the Majestic's Founding Executive Director.

Centenary Stage Company Announces 2017/18 Professional Theatre Series

Theater fills the Lackland Performing Arts Center as Centenary Stage Company announces its 2017 - 18 professional theater line-up.  The Sitnik Theatre is set to burst as this season's main stage professional theater series includes four exciting CSC produced plays; The Learned Ladies, Newsies, Art and Hitler's Tasters.  Centenary Stage Company's Fringe Festival also welcomes three incredibly unique guest productions; Song and Dance Men, Seeger: A Multimedia Solo Show and My Name is Gideon: I'm Probably Going to Die, Eventually as the festival returns for its third installment in the Kutz Theatre.

Martin Moran's OBIE Award-Winning One-Man Show THE TRICKY PART Gets Philadelphia Premiere

After premiering Off-Broadway 13 years ago, The Tricky Part, heads to the City of Brotherly Love for a  two-night limited engagement May 22-23. The true story of a young Martin Moran, The Tricky Part has been called "a translucent memoir of a play … shattering and affecting" by Ben Brantley of The New York Times. This production of The Tricky Part is part of Drexel University's Entertainment & Arts Management Program's Producing Live Entertainment class, led by Drexel professor and Broadway producer Brannon Wiles.

Deborah Zall Project presents Dances by Dudley, Maslow, Sokolow, Zall, 5/12-13

The Deborah Zall Project will present a program of works by legendary modern dance choreographers Jane Dudley, Sophie Maslow and Anna Sokolow, along with dances by Deborah Zall, May 12 & 13 at 8 PM at the Martha Graham Studio Theater, 55 Bethune St.   Zall has gathered an ensemble of artists, all former members of the Martha Graham Dance Company, to perform these timeless works that have been reconstructed by Abigail Blatt, Lynn Frielinghaus, Samantha Geracht, Martin Lofsnes, and Zall.

For one night, folk music legend Pete Seeger's legacy in song was celebrated by a diverse array of musical talent. The Kennedy Center Concert Hall stage held a who's who including multiple Grammy winners, living legends and up-and-coming artists performing in tribute to the singer and activist Pete Seeger. Hosted by Larry Groce of National Public Radio's MOUNTAIN STAGE, the long and satisfying evening was officially entitled PETE SEEGER AND THE POWER OF SONG: TRIBUTE TO A FOLK LEGEND. No frills, no fuss, just great music performed with the same simplicity and power Seeger was known for during his own long career.

New Season of THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD IN 100 PERFORMANCES WITH ADAM GOPNIK Launches

A new season of The History of the World in 100 Performances with Adam Gopnik begins on Monday, April 3, at the David Rubenstein Atrium, with a look at the career of the great American soprano Leontyne Price. Joining Gopnik are internationally renowned soprano Renee Fleming and rising soprano Julia Bullock. Interspersed with audio and video clips, they will discuss Ms. Price's extraordinary career and the significance of the pioneering African-American soprano's role on the world's stages. Ms. Bullock will also sing several of Ms. Price's signature arias. The entire evening will be streamed on Facebook Live on Lincoln Center's Facebook Page.

DONOVAN Comes to The Cutting Room for One Night Only

Donovan Leitch is widely regarded as one of the most influential songwriters and recording artists working today. At his induction into the R & R Hall of Fame in 2012 it was stated, 'Donovan singlehandedly initiated the Pysychedelic Revolution with Sunshine Superman'. This masterwork album he created late 1965 at 19 years of age, one year before his friends The Beatles, influencing their album Sgt Pepper's  Lonely heart's Club Band, and leading the way for many other artists.

The Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry Presents First-Ever BANNERS AND CRANKS MINI-FESTIVAL

The Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry at the University of Connecticut will present its first-ever Banners and Cranks Mini-Festival on April 14 and 15, 2017 in conjunction with its current exhibit Banners and Cranks: Paintings and Scrolls in Performance. The Banners and Cranks Mini-Festival will present cranky and cantastoria performances created by puppeteers, musicians, and artists from throughout the Northeast, with productions geared for adult audiences on Friday, April 14 at 7 p.m. and family-friendly shows on Saturday, April 15 at 2 p.m. All events will take place at the Ballard Institute, located at 1 Royce Circle in Storrs Center. 'The Banners and Cranks Mini-Festival,' Ballard Institute Director John Bell said, 'is an exciting new addition to our performance programming, and we are very happy to bring these shows to Storrs Center.'
