Travis Linville and Grant Maloy Smith to Perform on WDVX Blue Plate Special

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The WDVX Blue Plate Special in Knoxville, Tennessee, will present two acclaimed Americana singer/songwriters, when Grant Maloy Smith and Travis Linville take to the stage and the airwaves on Monday, July 17. The program airs live throughout much of East Tennessee, six days a week, over 89.9 WDVX, in front of a live audience at the Knoxville Visitors Center.
Smith will perform songs from his new album "Dust Bowl: American Stories" (Suburban Cowboy Records). The album is based on the history of the Dust Bowl, a series of a massive dust storms that blew across the Southern Plains states during the Great Depression, destroying crops, killing livestock and sickening countless numbers of people. In a review, No Depression Magazine wrote that Smith's lyrics and music are "as potent as Woody Guthrie, as intense as John Trudell and dusted with the trials and tribulations of Tom Joad - Steinbeck and 'The Grapes of Wrath.'"(See Grant Maloy Smith's "Old Black Roller" here.)
Linville, meanwhile, was recently included among Rolling Stone's "10 New Country Artists You Need to Know." The Oklahoma native is promoting his new album "Up Ahead," which Rolling Stone described as "uncomplicated authenticity...with shuffling hits of jazz." (See Travis Linville's "Wishes" here.)
The WDVX Blue Plate Special features live musical performances in front of an audience at the Knoxville Visitors Center. Nationally known guests who have previously appeared on the show include Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, The Avett Brothers, Old Crow Medicine Show, Ricky Skaggs, Jim Lauderdale, John Oates, Sturgill Simpson and others. The program airs throughout East Tennessee on 89.9, 93.9 and 102.9, and streams live on the Internet.
Grant Maloy Smith and Travis Linville will perform on the WDVX Blue Plate Special at the Knoxville Visitors Center, 301 S.
