In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, twenty one artists and arts leaders recite Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legendary I Have A Dream speech.

Center Theatre Group launches Not a Moment, But a Movement, a series of events that amplify and center Black artists.

At New Federal Theatre's 50th Anniversary Gala Sunday January 17, special guests will include Debbie Allen, Trazana Beverly, Mya Carter, Patrice Johnson Cevannes, Debbi Blackwell Cook, D.K. Dyson, Joseph Edwards, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Ted Lange, Pauletta Washington, Kevin Maynor, S. Epatha Merskerson, Phylicia Rashad and more.

Presented in partnership with B.L.A.C.T ATL, Inc., Black Theatre and the Black Lives Matter Movement will center on the role of Black theatre companies in shaping, influencing, and amplifying the Black Lives Matter movement, as well as the role that Black theatre companies have historically played in giving a voice to civil rights.

DeWanda Wise, star of the Netflix series 'She'd Gotta Have It,' and her husband, Alano Miller, best known for the WGN America drama series 'Underground,' will join Ted Lange as co-hosts of New Federal Theatre's '50th Anniversary Virtual Gala' January 17, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.  

Esteemed American playwrights Ed Bullins, Constance Congdon, and Philip Kan Gotanda have been announced as the inaugural recipients of the Legacy Playwrights Initiative Award(s). The winners will be recognized by their friends and peers at the Dramatists Guild Foundation “Write in the Dark” virtual benefit on December 21, 2020.

Broadway veterans Woodie King, Jr., Vinie Burrows and Emme Kemp are spotlighted in “A Generation Found: Precious Pearls of Wisdom,” a beautifully photographed coffee table book by writer-photographer Roohee Marshall that’s dedicated to the wit and achievements of Black seniors.

Two of New York's most beloved radio hosts, Felix Hernandez (WBGO's Rhythm Revue Dance Party) and G. Keith Alexander (WBLS from 1973-2017), are teaming up November 14, 2020 for '50 Years In The Groove,' a Rhythm Revue salute to Woodie King, Jr.'s New Federal Theatre (NFT).

On 10/30 - 11/1, Woodie King Jr's New Federal Theatre's Octoberfest virtual revival play reading series will present 'Stories About the Old Days,' the acclaimed 1986 drama about hidden secrets, featuring co-stars Pauletta Washington and Michael Potts, associate producer Linda Herring and its original director LaTanya Richardson Jackson at the helm.

On October 16 - 18, Woodie King Jr's New Federal Theatre's Octoberfest virtual revival play reading series will present the acclaimed 'From the Mississippi Delta,' the biographical journey of a Black woman's rise from poverty and prostitution to become a Civil Rights activist and historian by late scholar-poet Endesha Ida Mae Holland, PhD.

Woodie King Jr's New Federal Theatre's Octoberfest virtual revival play reading series will present 'Dr. DuBois and Miss Ovington,' the acclaimed 2014 drama about the beginnings of the NAACP with original stars Peter Jay Fernandez and Kathleen Chalfant.'Dr. DuBois and Miss Ovington' are 7:00pm on Friday, October 9 and 7:00pm on Saturday, Oct 10.

Woodie King Jr. Producing Director of New Federal Theatre (NFT), has appointed actress, director and producer Elizabeth Van Dyke as Artistic Director.

On September 21 and 28 at 7:00 PM, Woodie King, Jr.'s New Federal Theatre will present '2020 Poetry Jam: She Speaks, He Speaks, We Speak, Generations Speak.' 

Generations of acclaimed Black poets spanning the Black Arts Movement to todaya??s Black Lives Matter will take the stage from iconic Sonia Sanchez to emerging Mahogany L. Browne and Shadenia Sivad and appear in Woodie King, Jra??s New Federal Theatrea??s She Speaks, He Speaks, Generations Speak: Black Words Matter,  a two part virtual poetry jam on September 21 and September 28 at 7:00pm.  The program is free.
