Uptown Players, a professional theater group located in the Uptown area of Dallas, has announced its programming for its upcoming Gay History Play Festival. From September 28 through October 19, 2018, Uptown Players will present three plays with themes that focus on Gay History.

An heroic struggle for dignity, the importance of family, and the attainment of the American Dream take center stage in Lorraine Hansberry's acclaimed drama "A Raisin in the Sun," to be presented by Theater To Go at Mercer County Community College's (MCCC's) Kelsey Theatre.

Artists Repertory Theatre kicks off its 2018/19 season with Skeleton Crew by Dominique Morisseau, directed by William (Bill) Earl Ray. Skeleton Crew is the third play in Morisseau's The Detroit Project (A 3-Play Cycle) following Detroit '67 and Paradise Blue. For Skeleton Crew, Morisseau received a 2016 Obie Award and the play was selected for the 2014 Kilroy List. Skeleton Crew runs from September 2 through September 30 on the Morrison Stage.

THEATER TO GO will be holding auditions for their upcoming production of A RAISIN IN THE SUN, by Lorraine Hansberry to be produced at Kelsey Theatre October 19-28 2018 at Kelsey Theatre in West Windsor NJ

Reviewer Mark Lowry said of Uptown's presentation of Part One, Angels In America, Millenium Approaches with actress Emily Scott Banks as the Angel hovering above the bed of the ailing Prior, played by Garret Storms, that it "always feels like extended exposition for the second part, Perestroika". Uptown will present Part Two Angels in America, Perestroika as a special event to kick-off Gay History Month this fall. Angels in America received a record 11 nominations at the 72nd annual Tony Awards this month, winning three awards, including Best Revival of a Play.

On Day 22 of 30 Days of Tony, we celebrate one of the most legendary actors of his time, Denzel Washington, who is nominated this year for his portrayal of Hickey in Eugene O'Neill's classic drama The Iceman Cometh.

Uptown Players presents its 16th annual fundraiser Broadway Our Way '18, written and directed by B.J. Cleveland running June 14 - June 17, 2018 at the Kalita Humphreys Theater. Cleveland has heard members of the LGBT community claim they had never been represented on stage for many decades and this evening is about fun and providing a previously unheard voice and seeing the world as we always wish it could be.

2017 Regional Theatre Tony Award Recipient Dallas Theater Center (DTC) presents White Rabbit Red Rabbit by Nassim Soleimanpour at the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre Studio Theatre. White Rabbit Red Rabbit begins on May 30 and runs through July 1. A Noise Within (ANW) presents A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry, directed by Gregg T. Daniel, the sixth production of its 26th season performing February 25 to April 8 (Press Opening March 3). Now added - three performances - Wednesday, March 14 at 7:30 pm, Wednesday March 29 at 7:30 pm, and Sunday, April 8 at 7 pm.

Syracuse Stage has once again brought an intense and gripping production to the local stage. This time around it is Lorraine Hansberry's American classic play A Raisin in the Sun (in a co-production with Indiana Repertory Theatre) captivating audiences.

Virginia Rep presents Lorraine Hansberry's classic, A RAISIN IN THE SUN! Set in the south side of Chicago in 1950s, A RAISIN IN THE SUN begins when the Younger family receives ten thousand dollars following the death of the family patriarch. Though everyone in the family wants to use the money in order to better themselves, tensions brew when it becomes unclear how best to make that happen. A RAISIN IN THE SUN opened February 16th, and will run through March 11th.

Teeming with emotionally-charged and nuanced performances, and led by Tony-award winning actress Trezana Beverley, Virginia Rep's RAISIN is a tour de force not to be missed. Audiences can see the Broadway-caliber masterwork through March 11 at Virginia Rep's November Theatre.

'What happens to a dream deferred?  Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun?'  In 1959, with her landmark play inspired in part by the preceding lines from Langston Hughes' poem 'Harlem,' Lorraine Hansberry made history as the first black female playwright to have her work produced on Broadway.
