Last Monday night, the Addison Theatre Center was abuzz, eagerly anticipating the directorial debut of WaterTower Theatre's new Artistic director, Joanie Schultz and the play HIT THE WALL that she carried with her from her previous Chicago home, the Steppenwolf Theatre Company. When the house opened, actors milled about the stage, an enthusiastic indie band jamming away behind them, casually greeting ticket buyers as they took their seats. And, although we weren't yet sure if we were there to witness humor or horror, we entered ready for a riot.

WaterTower Theatre Artistic Director Joanie Schultz today announced casting and creative team details for the Regional Premiere of Hit the Wall by multi-award-winning playwright Ike Holter. Hit the Wall will be directed by Joanie Schultz, and marks her WTT directorial inauguration. The cast features Kelsey Leigh Ervi as Peg, Joshua Gonzales as Tano, Walter Lee as Carson, Gregory Lush as Cop, Camille Monae as Roberta, Stephen Rosenberger as Newbie, Rashaun Sibley as Mika, Garret Storms as Cliff, Jacie Hood Wenzel as Madeline, and Brandon Whitlock as A-Gay.

Well, Mr. Lorenz Hart, personally, we are too damn busy with creating the magic of live theater: We're directing a show (Daddy's Dyin'…Who's Got the Will? opens next week - April 20 - at The Larry Keeton Theatre in Donelson, thank you very much) and trying to make it out to see as much theater in Nashville as possible before old age takes its toll - it's tough out there for a theater critic!

The 'play that changed American theater forever' (New York Times) comes to Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater for the first time ever this spring. Due to popular demand, the production has been extended for one week with eight additional performances, running now through May 7, 2017 in the Fichandler Stage.
