Music Mountain, America's oldest continuing summer chamber music festival, continues its 87th Anniversary Season with a benefit concert featuring legendary pianist Peter Serkin and rising star Julia Hsu performing a special program on Sunday, July 10 (3pm); Piano 4 Hands will highlight Bach, Bizet, Brahms, and Mozart. The dynamic Vince Giordano & The Nighthawks return for another summer playing the best of 1920s and '30s jazz on Saturday, July 9 (6:30pm). The summer will feature 15 weekends of incredible music including returning favorite chamber ensembles and musicians (pianists Peter Serkin and Julia Hsu), first-time guests (pianist Richard Goode), the ever-popular Saturday Evening Twilight Series, featuring an array of Jazz ensembles and musicians, including the artists of the Catskill Jazz Factory, and the second season of the Music Mountain Master Classes for Young Artists plus so much more! Judy Garland Talk & Concert Set for Northeast Harbor Library, 6/29

Award-winning music producer, critic and translator Lawrence Schulman will give a talk on Judy Garland, entitled 'Moments of Magic,' at the Northeast Harbor Library (Maine) on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at 5 P.M. Admission is free. The one-and-a-quarter hour talk will examine Judy Garland's life and career, and feature nine audio-video clips, to be followed by a question and answer. Schulman will endeavor to answer the question: 'If I had just one hour to convince you of Judy Garland's place in classic American popular music, what film and television performances would I choose?' The talk will be followed by a mini-concert of songs Garland sang by famed jazz vocalist Diane Linscott and the equally renowned pianist Scott Cleveland.

On Saturday, June 25, a day-long blowout celebration of New Orleans-inspired jazz commences at CENTRAL PARK SUMMERSTAGE with the debut of the NEW YORK HOT JAZZ FESTIVAL ALL-STARS under the direction of multi-award winning trumpeter / vocalist BRIA SKONBERG. The All-Stars band features New York Hot Jazz Festival alumni including multi-reed virtuoso ANAT COHEN; Grammy-winning big band leader VINCE GIORDANO (as heard on Boardwalk Empire), on double bass and tuba; drummer JOE SAYLOR (member of Jon Batiste's Stay Human, the house band on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert); stride and ragtime specialist DALTON RIDENHOUR on piano; banjo and vocals by bluesman and hot-jazzer BLIND BOY PAXTON; plus a SURPRISE SPECIAL GUEST on trombone as well as other guests to round out the ensemble.

Cortland Repertory Theatre to Present SWEET, SINATRA...AND ALL THAT JAZZ

Cortland Repertory Theatre is turning their new downtown performing arts venue into a swank and swinging nightclub to celebrate Valentine's Day with Sweet, Sinatra…And All That Jazz, to be held on Saturday night, February 13th. New York City crooner and CRT star Marcus Goldhaber and his jazz musicians, The In Time Band will provide an evening of live, smooth jazz music, and a dance floor will be available for those couples who would like to cut a rug. Also include in the ticket price is an elegant dessert buffet, with delicacies created by local dessert artist Mary Turturro of "Mary's Cakes". Complimentary non-alcoholic punch will be available, along with a cash bar with wine from Americana Vineyards and beer from Bacchus Brewing Inc. Seating is reserved, and will be arranged cabaret style at small four-person tables. Singles or couples, families or groups of friends are invited; all are welcome to sit and enjoy the sweets and music, or show their dancing skills on the dance floor. Tickets are currently on sale and are $35.00 per person. Doors will open at 7:30.
