Theater J, the nation's largest and most prominent Jewish theater, announces its 2016-2017 season, the first season chosen by new Theater J Artistic Director Adam Immerwahr. This lineup of seven diverse plays features Tony Award-winning plays and playwrights, Washington area premieres, and a stellar lineup of directors and artists. The season's plays promise delight, joy, and a thoughtful examination and exploration of pressing ideas about morality, ethics, the role of faith in this country, and the changing face of Jewish identity in this country. Theater J's new season features the work of Deborah Zoe Laufer, Lucas Hnath, Michael Frayn, Sarah Treem, Neil Simon, and Arthur Miller.

This just in! BroadwayWorld has just learned that THE HONEYMOONERS, with a book by Dusty Kay and Bill Nuss, Music by Stephen Weiner, and Lyrics by Peter Mills, is another step closer to Broadway.

The Queen of Everything: A  F*ckloric Folktale, is a sexy, avant-garde theatrical production inspired by Alpine fairy and folk tales, created by Trixie Little, the current Reigning Queen of Burlesque.  The story begins with the innocent milk maid, Trixie Littlewurst, who is held captive by the demands of giant Cuckoo Clock. Trixie longs to be free from her repetitive existence, until a chance encounter with a mysterious old beggar woman launches her on a surreal adventure deep into the dark forest.  Traveling with her two shape-shifting assistants, The Nightmares,  Trixie goes on the ultimate heroine's journey to retrieve the crown that will buy her freedom. Classically modern, tragically comic and poignantly pointless. Set to a live, original score by the psych-mambo quartet, Gato Loco.

I see no reason why this should not tour overseas and, in fact, it should.

After an acclaimed downtown premiere earlier this year, NASTY DREW AND THAT HARDER BOY: THE MYSTERY OF THE FAMILY JEWELS heads to Times Square for a limited run at The Laurie Beechman Theater beginning April 1.

KEVIN SMITH KIRKWOOD - now appearing on Broadway in the Tony Award-winning musical Kinky Boots - is bringing CLASSIC WHITNEY: ALIVE! back to New York by popular demand.

Something wonderfully odd is going on over at that Bartell place. The Rocky Horror Show, in all of its whacky glory, is electrifying audiences - even though ritual participation is not included. 

CMT today announced it is partnering with the producer of the Emmy Award-winning miniseries "Hatfields & McCoys" to adapt the Tony Award-winning musical MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET into an eight-episode limited-run scripted drama premiering later this year.

Helen George, well known as 'Trixie' from BBC's CALL THE MIDWIFE, will star onstage in AFTER MISS JULIE, Patrick Marber's adaptation of August Strindberg's classic.

Call the Midwife actress Helen George and The Wanted's Jay McGuiness are confirmed to compete in the 2016 Strictly Come Dancing UK tour, together with EastEnders actor Jake Wood who starred in the 2014 TV series. This completes the line-up for the tour, which opens in Birmingham on 22 January.

In 1988 in Florida's Dade County, Ginger Reiter sued comedian Jackie Mason for paternity, claiming he was the father of her daughter Sheba.  She won.  Reiter went on to become a high school English teacher in South Florida, and raised her daughter on her own (Mason did pay child support until Sheba turned 18).  But she also had a story to tell, and a unique one at that.   Both Sides of a Famous Love Affair - The Jackie Mason Musical is Reiter's light-hearted, laughter-filled musical recounting of her relationship with Mason, starring the result of that much contested union - her daughter Sheba Mason.
