Japan Society to Stage Reading of GIRL X This Month

Japan Society presents a staged reading of GIRL X by Japanese playwright Suguru Yamamoto, led by award-winning director Charlotte Brathwaite. This event takes place Monday, March 21 at 7:30 PM at Japan Society (333 East 47th Street).

Playco Announces THE WILDNESS Idea Lab Programming

The Play Company's (PlayCo) Idea Lab series complements the productions in their 2016 season by bringing together artists, scholars, writers and community leaders for stand-alone events to examine themes raised in the shows. Following performances of the world premiere of The Wildness, a co-produced with Ars Nova, Playco will present three post show events over three Thursdays, March 3, 10 & 17.

Sky-Pony's Rock Fairy Tale 'THE WILDNESS' Opens Tonight at Ars Nova

The world premiere of THE WILDNESS: SKY-PONY'S ROCK FAIRY TALE, with text by Obie Award winner Kyle Jarrow and Lauren Worsham and songs by Kyle Jarrow, opens tonight, February 29, 2016. Presented by Ars Nova in collaboration with The Play Company, a limited Off-Broadway engagement is slated through March 19.

The world premiere of THE WILDNESS: SKY-PONY'S ROCK FAIRY TALE, with text by Obie Award winner Kyle Jarrow and Lauren Worsham and songs by Kyle Jarrow, presented by Ars Nova in collaboration with The Play Company, plays a limited Off-Broadway engagement, tonight, February 16, through March 19, with an official opening night on Monday, February 29, 2016.

Richard Maxwell to Helm Jackie Sibblies Drury World Premiere at Abrons

Abrons Arts Center and New York City Players' American Playwrights Division present Really, a new play written by Jackie Sibblies Drury, directed by Richard Maxwell and designed by photographer Michael Schmelling. Performed by Elaine Davis, Tavish Miller and Kaneza Schaal, Really is a play about grief, intimacy and the difference between goodness and greatness seen through the lens of photography. A black woman takes pictures of her artist boyfriend's mom. As they jockey for a claim to him, they try to redefine themselves in the wake of his legacy.

Photo Coverage: Under the Radar Festival Kicks Off 12 Season at the Public Theater!

The Public Theater just began performances for the 12th annual UNDER THE RADAR FESTIVAL last night, January 6. This popular and highly-anticipated program of The Public Theater's winter season will include artists from across the U.S. and around the world, including Belgium, Canada, Chile, France, Japan, and Rwanda. Curated by Co-Directors Mark Russell and Meiyin Wang, this year's UNDER THE RADAR will also launch a new series, Under the Radar + Joe's Pub: In Concert, which highlights artists who are working at the intersection of music and theater. Japan Society to Present Toshiki Okada's GOD BLESS BASEBALL in January

Japan Society proudly presents God Bless Baseball, written and directed by Toshiki Okada.  This production, a North American Premiere, plays 4 performances only at Japan Society: Thursday, January 14 at 8:00pm; Friday, January 15 at 7:30pm; Saturday, January 16 at 7:30pm; Sunday, January 17 at 2:30pm, kicking off a U.S. tour.  The New York engagement is part of the The Public Theater's Under the Radar Festival.

New Jackie Sibblies Drury World Premiere to Play Abrons Arts Center

PlayCo to Stage World Premiere of Aya Ogawa's LUDIC PROXY

The Play Company (PlayCo), led by Founding Producer Kate Loewald and Executive Producer Lauren Weigel, will present the world premiere of writer-director Aya Ogawa's Ludic Proxy, which PlayCo commissioned after producing Ogawa's translation of Toshiki Okada's play Enjoy (2010) to acclaim.

The Martin E. Segal Theatre Center Kicks Off 2014 Prelude Festival Today

The Martin E. Segal Theatre Center at The Graduate Center, CUNY presents the 2014 PRELUDE FESTIVAL. The annual festival is dedicated to artists at the forefront of contemporary New York City theatre and performance. Following the enormous success of its tenth anniversary in 2013, the eleventh annual PRELUDE festival will be curated by Chloe Bass, Jackie Sibblies Drury, Sarah Rose Leonard, Allison Lyman, and Frank Hentschker.
