Birdland Jazz Club and Birdland Theater have announced listing for March 9 through March 22: 

On Saturday, March 7, The Ingrid Jensen Four, a quartet of internationally acclaimed jazz virtuosos headed by trumpeter Jensen, will make a rare local appearance in Westchester Collaborative Theater (WCT)'s Jazz in the Box Series. Ossining-based Jensen, hailed by the JJA (Jazz Journalists Association) as 2019's Trumpeter of the Year, is recognized as one of the most gifted trumpeters of her generation. Her quartet includes Nate Radley on guitar, Alex Smith (who has accompanied Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett) on keyboard, and Jon Wikan on drums.

THE LAST SHIP, starring and featuring original music and lyrics by 17-time Grammy Award® winner Sting, will make its Washington, D.C. premiere at the National Theatre from March 27 - April 5 as part of an international tour.

A musical tribute to timeless talents Billy Strayhorn and Lee Morgan will be performed on March 11th by the Terell Stafford Quintet on stage at Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

On Saturday March 7, the NJCU Center for the Arts presents the celebrated documentary 'Bill Evans: Time Remembered' which captures the genius of the legendary pianist through interviews, rare archival footage, and conversations with great musicians such as Jack DeJohnette and Tony Bennett. The program takes place at Ingalls Recital Hall on the Jersey City campus of NJCU and features a pre-screening concert with pianist Joel Zelnik, bassist Gary Mazzaroppi, and drummer David Cox.

The Cleveland Institute of Music announced yesterday that acclaimed conductor, composer and educator Michael Tilson Thomas will be awarded an honorary doctorate at the school's 95th Commencement Ceremony in Kulas Hall on Saturday, May 16 at 10am EDT. Yesterday's announcement was given at a special MTT-led rehearsal of the CIM Orchestra at Severance Hall, home of The Cleveland Orchestra, which MTT also conducts February 20-23.
