Mark DeGarmo Dance will honor dance writer DEBORAH JOWITT with the 2016 'Educational Visionary' Lifetime Achievement Award to celebrate her many accomplishments.  Ms. Jowitt danced with notable names such as Jose Limon and Anna Sokolow, choreographed works shown in venues in both the United States and overseas, published articles in The New York Times, The Village Voice and Dance Magazine, among others, and has lectured, taught and conducted workshops at universities in the U.S. and abroad. 

Tommy Tune and an overflow audience at The Triad on 72nd street met Patrick Rinn last night, and Broadwayworld was also there.  

Patrick Rinn returns with his updated one-man show 'I NEVER PROMISED YOU ... ROSE GARDEN' at NYC's famed Triad Theatre, (158 W. 72nd St.), for one performance only on Wed. Sept 28, 2016 at 7:00pm.

Last night's Career Transition For Dancers 31st Anniversary Jubilee at the New York Marriott Marquis? was a great success. The evening honored Joe Lanteri/the New York City Dance Alliance? Foundation, and philanthropists Barbara and Donald Tober for Outstanding Contributions to the World of Dance. The gala benefit evening raised  $800,000 and was presented by the Lloyd E. Rigler-Lawrence E. Deutsch Foundation and benefits The Actors Fund's CTFD services for the dance community.

Just last night, the American Theatre Wing honored legendary Tony Award-winning actress Cicely Tyson at its annual gala at The Plaza Hotel (Fifth Avenue at Central Park South). Tony Award winners Cynthia Erivo and Adriane Lenox, as well as Tony Award nominees Danielle Brooks and Saycon Sengbloh performed for the special night.

Maestro LUKE FRAZIER and THE AMERICAN POPS ORCHESTRA - Washington, DC's innovative hometown orchestra - will launch the 12:15 PM lunchtime concert series "THIRD THURSDAYS" to highlight the unique musical personalities and special talents of the members of their acclaimed ensemble at Live! at 10th and G (First Congregational, UCC Washington - 945 G Street NW, Washington, DC 20001). Admission to the 30 minute events are free, but a free-will offering will benefit the DC Youth Orchestra Program, where Mr. Frazier is an Artist-in-Residence. 

After receiving degrees in Performing Arts, Choreography and Directing from Emerson College, Patrick Rinn was whisked away to N.Y.C. with Grand Hotel - The Musical as a Production Assistant and found himself working for 10 Time Tony award winner, Tommy Tune as his personal assistant. After taking a brief break from his duties and dabbling in some TV and movie work.

From the streets of Venice to the stages of the Syracuse University Department of Drama comes the classic 1982 Broadway musical Nine from September 30 to October 8 in the Archbold Theatre at the Syracuse Stage/SU Drama Complex, 820 E. Genesee St.

Michael Riedel, theater columnist for the New York Post and author of the best selling book RAZZLE DAZZLE The Battle For Broadway, led a panel discussion at the Friars Club last night.  The book is advertised with the slogan, "everything you wanted to know about Broadway, but were afraid to ask"! 

Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) is excited to announce the 45 Houston area high schools participating in the 2017 Tommy Tune Awards. This year will mark the Tommy Tune Awards 15th Anniversary. Created by TUTS in 2002, the Tommy Tune Awards recognize and reward excellence in the production of musical theatre by high school students and their teachers.
