Playing on Air, a public radio show featuring recordings of select contemporary short American plays, returns to BRIC House for a new season of performances. Nine short plays by notable American playwrights (three per evening) will be recorded live at BRIC House, 647 Fulton Street in Downtown Brooklyn on October 20, 27 and December 1 at 7:30pm.

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) seeks submissions for the 14th Annual TRU Voices New Musicals Reading Series. Writers, producers and theater companies are welcome to submit new musicals for consideration in the developmental series. Non members may submit to the TRU Voices New Musicals Series (completed musicals only) for a $25 fee. The deadline for submission is today, August 8, 2014 (deadline is extended to August 15th for TRU members and shows with a producer attached).

Drama Desk and Tony Award winner Laura Benanti ('The Sound of Music Live!', Gypsy, Women On The Verge of a Nervous Breakdown) will host the 59th Annual Drama Desk Awards tonight, June 1, 2014 at 8:00 PM at The Town Hall (123 W. 43rd Street). Nominations for the 2014 Annual Drama Desk Awards were announced last month at 54 Below, and earlier this week, the honorees appeared at the 2014 Drama Desk Nominees Reception. Below, BroadwayWorld brings you a collection of candids of the stars at the big event!

Eligibility and award category designations for the productions under consideration this season were determined by the Drama Desk board of directors with recommendations from the nominating committee. Because of the abundance of great work throughout the season, the Board also authorized the increase in the number of nominees allowed in select categories.

Playing on Air, which presents readings of short plays by prominent, contemporary American playwrights for a national audience via public radio and the Internet, inaugurates a new initiative next month. On consecutive Mondays in March, Playing on Air presents its first plays for radio broadcast taped in front of live audiences.

The Colony Theatre is thrilled to present the West Coast Premiere of BREATH AND IMAGINATION: The Story of Roland Hayes, a true story by Daniel Beaty, directed by Saundra McClain, with Musical Direction by Rahn Coleman. BREATH AND IMAGINATION will open tonight, September 14 at 8:00pm and continue through Sunday, October 13.

Playing on Air, a new public radio show that features short stage plays performed by great American actors, is now available online for listening, streaming and downloading.

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) seeks submissions for the 15th Annual TRU VOICES New Plays Reading Series (deadline January 18, 2013 for non-TRU members; January 25, 2013 for TRU members). TheTRU VOICES New Plays Reading Series is a unique series geared towards nurturing the producer-writer relationship, and is particularly interested in finding producers who are looking for opportunities to develop new works. Shows selected will receive staged readings to be presented in June of 2013. Each reading will be followed by a 'Dollars and Sense' panel discussion with prominent New York producers, general managers and artistic directors focusing on potential venues, marketing and budgeting of the work.

Bradley Cooper, best known for his appearances in Hollywood hits including 'The Hangover' series and 'Limitless,' may return to Broadway. The actor - who made his Broadway debut in 2006's THREE DAYS OF RAIN - starred as John Merrick in THE ELEPHANT MAN at Williamstown Theatre Festival this summer, and tells Entertainment Weekly this week that he still plans to reprise the role on the Great White Way.

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) is extending the submission deadline for the 2012TRU Voices New Musicals Reading Series to August 23 (for musicals without a producer) and August 30 (with a producer attached).
