Following on the success of the 201718 SEASON OF WOMXN and 201819 COLOR BRAVE SEASON, The Flea announced today that its 201920 Season will be the SEASON OF ANARCHY: THE RETURN OF THE MACS as they welcome back playwrights, poets and activists Mac Wellman and Taylor Mac.

The Flea Theater is proud to announce the addition of six new Resident Directors to its intensive practicum for early-career directors. Rebecca Aparicio, Jake Beckhard, Daniella Caggiano, Lauren DeLeon, Will Steinberger, and Raz Golden will join the current group of Resident Directors. 

Following a critically-acclaimed, sold out world premiere at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival, global event distributor Trafalgar Releasing today announced plans to bring Between Me and My Mind, a feature-length documentary chronicling the life and music of Trey Anastasio, to movie theaters across North America for a one-night engagement on July 17.

The Drama League has announced the twelve stage directors who have been selected as the 2019 Directing Fellows of The Drama League Directors Project: NJ Agwuna, Sharifa Elkady, Raz Golden, Chika Ike, Rebecca Marzalek-Kelly, Ismael Lara, Jr., Amanda McRaven, Lindsey Hope Pearlman, Ben Randle, Tai Thompson, Gabriel Torres, and Sophia Watt. Provocateur Thomas Bradshaw revisits his incendiary 2008 play SOUTHERN PROMISES in a new production helmed by The Flea's Artistic Director, Niegel Smith. SOUTHERN PROMISES begins previews Monday, March 11 with opening night slated for Sunday, March 24.

San Jose Stage continues its "Explosively Charged" Season 36 with Stephen Adly Guirgis' Pulitzer Prize-winning 'Between Riverside and Crazy'. Directed by Jeffrey Lo 'Riverside' will feature renowned actor L. Peter Callender, Artistic Director of San Francisco's African-American Shakespeare Company.  This explosive comedy seemingly pulled directly from today's headlines boldly examines, with witty street-smarts and warmth, the slippery nature of justice.

There are many plays that evoke feelings and entertain and do everything that an admirable piece of theater is meant to; I cannot say, though, that these plays are as poignant or as tragically beautiful as Emma and Max: the show I was fortunate to see on its closing night. I can't remember the last time I not only stepped out of a theater in awe of what was just seen, but then brought with me the thoughts and questions that were constantly forming like a never-ending chain; this was to the moment I walked through my front door. It is so hard to come up with the perfect form of praise for everything this show is, without also thinking of how the show affects me, compares to my life and makes me question every decision made in the last twenty-four hours.

Artists Rep presents the 2015 Pulitzer Prize for Drama winner Between Riverside and Crazy, by Stephen Adly Guirgis. The play is directed by Adriana Baer and runs from March 4 through April 1 on the theatre's Alder Stage.

The cast of Broadway's Hello Dolly! offered up one final salute for the legendary Donna Murphy following her final performance in the iconic role last night.
