Kindness, a.k.a. Adam Bainbridge, makes a highly anticipated return to their own music with “Cry Everything,” featuring a duet with longtime collaborator and friend,Robyn. Centered around thumping bass and a swirling sample of Todd Rundgren's “Pretending to Care,” “Cry Everything” is an intricate, optimistic ode to stepping into the light and loving yourself after a particularly dark period. Pulling energy from queer, vocal house music and self-empowering funk, “Cry Everything” is the feeling of exhaling after years of holding it in, of total catharsis, of forgetting everything that came before.
March is peak season for Kaufman Music Center's Ecstatic Music Festival. KMC's own Face the Music joins forces with ETHEL on Sunday, March 17, with a special appearance by legendary songwriter/multi-instrumentalist/producer Todd Rundgren. And versatile indie-rock duo Wye Oak joins the Brooklyn Youth Chorus on Thursday, March 21 for no fewer than five world premieres. Both concerts take place at Merkin Hall, 129 W. 67th St. in NYC. After a thirty-year-plus hiatus, Todd Rundgren's Utopia graced the Chicago Theatre stage, with the hopes of promising fans an extraordinary, other-worldly concert experience. The original 70's-formed band established a stellar reputation for stretching the prog rock/pop envelope and infusing their mostly original material with verve and state-of-the-art technique. Eliot Lewis is a singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist as well as being a key member of the the Daryl Hall & John Oates band. Eliot is also one of the original featured musicians on MTV's “Live From Daryl's House.” His contributions stand out on some of the best moments from the show including performances with Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top), Joe Walsh, Todd Rundgren,Train, Grace Potter, Ben Folds, Booker T, Jewel, Rob Thomas, Keb Mo, Jason Mraz, Darius Rucker, Gavin DeGraw and many, many others. Earlier in his career Eliot spent several years as a key member of the The Average White Band. Eliot toured, wrote and also produced several songs for the Scottish soul band.

Kaufman Music Center's Ecstatic Music Festival (EMF) returns for its ninth year, bringing together composers and performers from diverse musical backgrounds for six, one-night-only performances featuring world premieres, new arrangements and the opportunity to hear artists discuss their work. Hailed as 'the alt-classical world's main showcase' (The New York Times) and 'a feather in the cap of the avant-classical scene' (The New Yorker), the festival kicks off on January 7, 2019 and runs through March 21. The only festival that exclusively presents new work resulting from collaborations, the EMF is curated by composer and New Amsterdam Records Co-Director Judd Greenstein with Merkin Hall Director Amy Roberts Frawley.
