Following its critically acclaimed success Hot 'N' Throbbing, Interrobang Theatre Project continues its third season with SPEAKING IN TONGUES by Australian playwright Andrew Bovell, directed by Artistic Director Jeffry Stanton, playing February 21 - March 24, 2013 at Theater Wit, 1229 W. Broadway In Chicago has announced that individual tickets for the Roundabout Theatre Company's national tour of ANYTHING GOES will go on-sale to the public Friday, Feb. 22, 2013 at 10 a.m. ANYTHING GOES will play the Cadillac Palace Theatre (151 West Randolph) for a limited engagement April 23 - May 5, 2013.

The Flea Theater will extend the production of THE VANDAL through March 3. Hamish Linklater's playwriting debut, directed by Jim Simpson and starring Deirdre O'Connell, Zach Grenier and Noah Robbins, opened January 31.
Jonas Kaufmann Sings the Title Role in a New Production of PARSIFAL for the Metropolitan Opera

Jonas Kaufmann will sing the title role in a new staging of Wagner's final opera, Parsifal,conducted by Daniele Gatti and directed by Francois Girard in his Met debut. The new production of Wagner's transcendent masterpiece will open February 15 with an extraordinary cast of Wagnerian stars, including Katarina Dalayman as the mysterious Kundry; Peter Mattei in his role debut as Amfortas, the wounded King of the Knights of the Holy Grail; Rene Pape as the wise knight Gurnemanz; Evgeny Nikitin as the evil Klingsor; and Runi Brattaberg in his Met debut as Titurel, Amfortas's father. The production team for Girard's staging includes set designer Michael Levine, costume designer Thibault Vancraenenbroeck, lighting designer David Finn, video designer Peter Flaherty, choreographer Carolyn Choa, and dramaturg Serge Lamothe. The Saturday, March 2 matinee performance of Parsifal will be transmitted worldwide as part of the Met's Live in HD series, which is now seen in more than 1,900 movie theaters in 64 countries around the world.

Huntington Theatre Company Names Melinda Lopez a Playwright-in-Residence

The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has awarded the Huntington Theatre Company $245,000 so that Huntington Playwriting Fellow Melinda Lopez (Sonia Flew, Becoming Cuba) can join the company's full-time staff as playwright-in-residence. The award is one of 14 residency grants at theatre companies around the US announced this month. Lopez will begin her residency on July 1, 2013.

Lucky Star written by Ted Sod and Edie Demas will be read on Monday, January 28th at 7pm at Theater for the New City, 155 First Avenue (between 9th and 10th Streets) New York, NY 10003. Lucky Star is about Jill, a 16-year-old suburban rebel from Piscataway, NJ with an overactive imagination, who has been parented by an ex-drag queen turned florist named Coco Dependent. Jill thinks her biological mother is either Madonna, Beyonce or Amy Winehouse.
