The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) will begin previews for the MOBILE UNIT's production of Shakespeare's MEASURE FOR MEASURE on Monday, November 18. Directed by LA Williams, the free sit-down run of MEASURE FOR MEASURE follows a three-week tour to the five boroughs that brought Shakespeare to audiences who have limited or no access to the arts. MEASURE FOR MEASURE will run through Sunday, December 8 with an official press opening on Friday, November 22.

The Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF), the not-for-profit foundation affiliated with Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, presented the third annual SDCF Awards including the Gordon Davidson Award, Zelda Fichandler Award, Joe A. Callaway Awards, and Breakout Award. The event took place on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at the Laurie Beechman Theatre.

Huntington Theatre Company has announced the cast and creative team for the Boston premiere of the Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Sweat.  This a?oebreathtakingly timelya?? (The Wall Street Journal), Tony Award-nominated play by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage will be directed by Kimberly Senior (Disgraced on Broadway). Sweat begins performances at the Huntington Avenue Theatre (264 Huntington Avenue, Boston) on Friday, January 31, 2020 and runs through Sunday, February 23, 2020. The official press opening night is Wednesday, February 5, 2020. Tickets are now available.

Parent Artist Advocacy League for the Performing Arts (PAAL) is partnering with The Public Theater in New York City to present the first national summit on parent support in the performing arts. Lead facilitators from various theatre companies, organizations, and professions will engage in semi-open facilitation with summit participants on a range of topics including: cost-effective financial benefits to childcare stipends, budgeting for childcare, hiring laws, compliance, family leave, and more. The PAAL Summit will provide performing arts leaders with an intimate and safe space for active discussion, resource exchange, and concept generation. The PAAL National Handbook on Caregiver Support will guide the sessions, including the handbook's research into needs and solutions for both administrative and creative roles, original case studiesa?"including the Radical Parent-Inclusion (RPI) Project, which was co-led by PAAL and The Playwrights Realm, and data from the PAAL National Childcare Grant program on how affordable stipends for childcare can make a sustainable impact.

Take Me Out has found its full Broadway cast! Second Stage Theater has announced full casting for the Broadway production of Richard Greenberg's Tony Award-winning play, Take Me Out. Julian Cihi, Hiram Delgado, Brandon J. Dirden, Will Harrison, Carl Lundstedt, Ken Marks, Michael Oberholtzer, and Joél Pérez will join previously announced stars Patrick J. Adams, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Jesse Williams. Directed by Scott Ellis, Take Me Out will begin previews April 2, 2020 and officially open on April 23, 2020 at Second Stage's Hayes Theater (240 West 44th Street).

Pittsburgh Public Theater continues its 45th anniversary season with the Pittsburgh premiere of School Girls; Or The African Mean Girls Play. A smash hit Off-Broadway last year, the play was written by Jocelyn Bioh, a first generation American whose parents emigrated from Ghana in West Africa. Directed by Kenyan native Shariffa Ali, School Girls runs November 7 - December 8, 2019 at the O'Reilly Theater, Pittsburgh Public Theater's home in the heart of Downtown's Cultural District. Hub Theatre Company of Boston will finish their seventh season with the darkly comedic courtroom drama The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, by Pulitzer Prize winning and Tony Award nominated playwright Stephen Adly Guirgis, directed by award winning local favorite Steven Bogart.

Boston audiences will recognize his name from two acclaimed productions at SpeakEasy Stage Company in recent years, THE MOTHERf**kER WITH THE HAT and BETWEEN RIVERSIDE AND CRAZY. First staged Off-Broadway at The Public Theater in 2005, THE LAST DAYS is set in Hope, a corner of Purgatory, where a trial is being held to determine Judas' fate: should he ascend to Heaven, or remain in Hell for his crime of betraying Jesus?

Conrad Ricamora who plays Oliver in the ABC Series “How To Get Away With Murder” has been jetting back and forth across the country filming the final season of the show and also starring in the new musical “Soft Power” written by David Henry Hwang and Jeanine Tesori at the Public Theatre in NY.  Over the weekend, an old friend, George Takei stopped by to see the show and congratulate him backstage along with Playwright David Henry Hwang and the cast.

Transport Group presents its world premiere musical Broadbend, Arkansas, starring Justin Cunningham ('When They See Us') and Danyel Fulton. The Fred Ebb Foundation (Mitchell S. Bernard, Trustee) in association with the Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) will present the fifteenth annual Fred Ebb Award for aspiring musical theatre songwriters to Angela Sclafani & Benjamin Velez. The award, named in honor of the late award-winning lyricist Fred Ebb, will be presented by Kate Baldwin on Monday, December 2nd from 6-8pm at a by-invitation-only ceremony in the Penthouse Lounge of The American Airlines Theater.

The Drama League announced today the 2020 line-up of DirectorFest: The 36th Annual Directors Festival, the only festival in the United States dedicated to the art of contemporary stage directing. For its 36th year, the festival will include six fully-staged productions, a showcase concert of a new musical, a town hall, and conversations with directors including 2017 Tony Award Winner Rebecca Taichman (Indecent), 2014 Tony Award Winner and 2010 Drama League Founders Award for Excellence in Directing Kenny Leon (A Soldier's Play), and Intimacy Director Claire Warden (HBO's Mrs. Fletcher).
