New York audiences will be transported back to 1926 to experience a world of mysterious speakeasies, backstage intrigue, and hotel room affairs as they unravel the untimely death of legendary illusionist Harry Houdini in The Girl Who Handcuffed Harry Houdini, the new immersive theatrical production from playwright and director Cynthia von Buhler and her production company, Speakeasy Dollhouse.

Young People's Theatre Workshop is the very place where Tony Nominee Josh Young, Marcus Stevens, Kait Kerrigan, and Brian Lowdermilk all had their earliest training in the theatre arts. YPTW is celebrating its 40th year of providing high quality education to young people interested in all aspects of theatre.

On The Quays, a New York City based production company aimed at producing works that promote inclusivity, has announced it will present the world premiere production of Gary Duggan's STOP/OVER, a swift new play about rekindled friendship, as part of the 2018 Dublin Fringe Festival. Directed by Nicola Murphy, and supported by The Arts Council of Ireland,FringeLab, and The Lir Academy, The Production will run September 12th-23rd on the third floor of The Chocolate Factory (26 Kings Inn Street).

The Players Club of Swarthmore presents readings of three new plays in its annual New Play Festival, today, Saturday, and Sunday, July 20, 21, and 22.  These three plays were selected from among 42 submitted scripts and nine finalists.

On June 25, The Resident Acting Company (www.racnyc.org), a new troupe drawn from the performing ensemble of The Pearl Theatre Company, will present a staged reading of 'The Big Night' (1928) by humorist Dawn Powell, a harsh, biting comedy about a woman whose husband has been fired from an advertising agency.  The play was the author's masterpiece but failed on Broadway in a production of The Group Theatre. The version to be offered is a restoration by Michael Sexton from the author's original notes and drafts.  It retains some of the Group Theatre's 'improvements' but includes the author's original ending.  The reading will be at 7:00 PM at The Players Club, 16 Gramercy Park South, directed by Bradford Cover, Artistic Director of the troupe.

On June 5, 2018, the Fulton Theatre launches The Hunchback of Notre Dame, the theatre's season finale and biggest production of the 2017/2018 season.  The Hunchback of Notre Dame will also be one of the largest shows in the theatre's one hundred sixty six year history. Over ninety cast and choir members will take the stage amidst soaring bell towers, a gypsy village, and the bustling streets of fifteenth century Paris. Beneath the stage, a fourteen piece orchestra will bring to life the incredible music of the timeless classic.

Celebrating its 40th year, Young People's Theatre Workshop (YPTW) presents Tony-Award winning musical sensation Hello, Dolly!, on stage at the Players Club of Swarthmore May 25 to June 3. The Hello Dolly! cast includes 60 actors, ages 8-18, from the Philadelphia regional area. The 13th season continued on April 30th with SHAW SONGS, a festive cabaret evening of songs that George Bernard Shaw played, sang, and enjoyed (1856-1950). Marcia Milgrom Dodge directs with Paul Staroba serving as Musical Director.
