New York City Ballet announced today the promotion of eight of the Company's dancers. Soloist Russell Janzen has been promoted to the rank of principal dancer, and corps de ballet members Sara Adams, Harrison Ball, Emilie Gerrity, Joseph Gordon, Unity Phelan, Troy Schumacher, and Indiana Woodward have been promoted to Soloist.

Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts announced today its second class of Emerging Artists, recognizing diverse talents, from a visionary filmmaker to world-class musicians to a singer-songwriter currently starring on Broadway.

Ben Forster will extend his run as 'The Phantom' until Saturday 2 September in the smash hit Andrew Lloyd Webber musical 'THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA'. Now in its 31st year at Her Majesty's Theatre in the West End, the show also stars Celinde Schoenmaker as 'Christine Daae' and Nadim Naaman as 'Raoul'.

NYC Ballet announces their winter program, with two programs paying tribute to NYCB Founder George Balanchine, including the return of Prodigal Son and Swan Lake, as well as a reprise of his tragic narrative work La Sonnambula.

The Joyce Theater Foundation, Inc. will kick off its Spring/Summer 2017 season with the New York City premiere of Some of a Thousand Words, the latest collaboration between former New York City Ballet principal dancer Wendy Whelan and renowned choreographer Brian Brooks, from February 28 - March 5.

Boston Ballet proudly begins its five-year partnership with world-renowned choreographer William Forsythe with the North American company premiere of his full-length ballet Artifact. Forsythe revolutionized ballet; he "fundamentally changed the way we look at, and think about, classical dance" (Roslyn Sulcas, Dance Magazine). 

The Clive Barnes Foundation announced today, Monday, January 9, 2017, that Khris Davis (The Royale) has won the Seventh Annual Clive Barnes Award for Theater and that Indiana Woodward (New York City Ballet) has won the Seventh Annual Clive Barnes Award for Dance.

Pennsylvania Ballet dancer, Sara Murawski, was was told her contract would not be renewed next year after her performance in George Balanchine's THE NUTCRACKER due to her height not being a proper fit with next season's shows.

On Sunday, January 29, 2017 at 3:00pm and 7:30pm and Monday, January 30, 2017 at 7:30pm, Works & Process at the Guggenheim presents a discussion with acclaimed choreographer Alexei Ratmansky and excerpts of his ballet The Fairy's Kiss set to premiere at Miami City Ballet this winter.

American Ballet Theater Principal Dancer, David Hallberg, will be returning to the company to perform after taking a hiatus for a two and a half years due to an injury.  He will begin rehearsals for the spring repertory at the Metropolitan Opera House.

Casting has been announced for Cameron Mackintosh's spectacular new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA for the triumphant return Atlanta engagement at the Fox Theatre February 22 - March 5 as a Fifth Third Bank Broadway in Atlanta 2016/2017 season special.

On Sunday, November 13, 2016 at 3pm and 7:30pm and Monday, November 14, 2016 at 7:30pm, Works & Process at the Guggenheim presents Working in Process/ New Bodies, the culmination and World Premiere of choreographer Jodi Melnick's Works & Process residency with dancers Sara Mearns, Jared Angle, and Gretchen Smith at the Guggenheim's Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Peter B. Lewis Theater. Melnick's work weaves dance, spoken text, and moderated discussion with Claudia La Rocco, with live music for harpsichord by composer Gyorgy Ligeti, violin by composer Heinrich Biber, and newly commissioned music by Robert Boston.

Three days before Halloween, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre opens its 47th season with a story of haunting beauty: 'Giselle' with the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre Orchestra, onstage Oct. 28-30, at the Benedum Center.

Boston Ballet's 53rd season begins with the North American premiere of Ivan Liška's adventure and romance-filled Le Corsaire, with music by Adolphe Adam, Leo Delibes, Cesare Pugni, Riccardo Drigo, and Prinz von Oldenburg, performed by the Boston Ballet Orchestra. The narrative follows a beautiful maiden, a wealthy aristocrat determined to add her to his harem, and a dashing pirate even more resolved to save her. Based on Marius Petipa's 19th-century classic, Liška's version of Le Corsaire was created for the Bavarian State Ballet in 2007. Liška enlisted the assistance of dance historian Doug Fullington to decipher the choreography from its original Stepanov dance notation, which is housed in Harvard University Library's Theatre Collection. Le Corsaire will run from October 27 to November 6, 2016 at the Boston Opera House.
