The countdown to the Tony Awards has a officially begun! On June 12, the brightest stars of the 2021-22 season will shine even brighter as they gather at the iconic Radio City Music Hall to celebrate Broadway's biggest night. Leading up to the 75th Annual Tony Awards, BroadwayWorld is getting up close and personal with the nominees. Today we're studying up on Richard Frankel and Tom Viertel!

The Off-Broadway League today announced nominations in 19 categories - and bestowed one special award - for the 34th Annual Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway. The Awards will be handed out on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at NYU Skirball Center for Performing Arts, beginning at 7:00pm EST. The Lucille Lortel Awards are produced by the Off-Broadway League by special arrangement with the Lucille Lortel Theatre Foundation. Additional support is provided by TDF. Beloved and celebrated entertainer, Wayne Brady, will emcee the ceremony.

We've been HACKED!! BroadwayWorld's Instagram account has been taken over by Will Roland, cast member of the newly announced, Broadway bound musical, Be More Chill. Roland, along with fellow cast members, have taken over several other Broadway news outlets' instagram accounts, in a complete social media takeover! You can check out Roland's takeover here.

BroadwayWorld has learned that the sold-out hit Off-Broadway musical BE MORE CHILL will be transferring to Broadway later this season.

 Be More Chill, the new hit musical has extended by popular demand. Having sold out its entire run prior to opening night, Be More Chill has now extended its limited engagement one week through September 30.

Be More Chill, the original musical with music and lyrics by Joe Iconis (NBC's 'Smash,' The Black Suits, Broadway Bounty Hunter) and a book by Joe Tracz (The Lightning Thief, Netflix's 'Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events')launches its long anticipated New York premiere production July 26. 

Broadway's Jason Tam joins the company of this summer's hotly anticipated musical Be More Chill. Assuming the role of 'The Squip,' Tam joins previously announced cast members from the 2015 Two River Theater production and original cast recording including Gerard Canonico (Spring Awakening, Groundhog Day) as Rich, Katlyn Carlson (Dirty Dancing, The Unavoidable Disappearance of Tom Durnin) as Chloe, Stephanie Hsu (SpongeBob SquarePants) as Christine, Lauren Marcus (The Humans at St. Louis Rep, Company at Barrington Stage) as Brooke, and George Salazar (tick tick BOOM!, Godspell, The Lightning Thief) as Michael; as well as Will Roland (Dear Evan Hansen, The Black Suits) as Jeremy and Jason SweetTooth Williams (Freaky Friday, Benny and Joon, Bloodsong of Love) as Jeremy's Dad/Mr. Reyes.

On Friday June 8, the company of  Be More Chill hosts a special box office event. From 3:00 - 5:00PM, fans are invited to The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street, NYC) to buy their tickets and meet company members from this summer's hotly anticipated musical. Come and chill out with cast members including Katlyn Carlson, Lauren Marcus, Will Roland, George Salazar and Jason SweetTooth Williams, as well as composer/lyricist Joe Iconis and director Stephen Brackett. There will be opportunities for selfies with the company, fun giveaways and other surprises.
