The CSO's “Concerts for Kids” Invite Families to Beat the Winter Blues with Babar and Friends February 22.

Ted Sod: Will you tell us about yourself? Where you were born and educated? When did you decide you wanted to become a theatre director? Giovanna Sardelli: I was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, when it was really just a desert town, so I didn't get to see much theatre. Right before I graduated, I said, "Oh my god, I'm about to get a degree in theatre and I've never seen a play." My family sent me on one of those theatre trips where you go to London and Edinburgh and see twenty-one plays in twenty days. That trip made me realize that I needed to go to grad school. I got accepted into the graduate acting program at NYU when Zelda Fichandler was running it and Ron Van Lieu was the acting teacher. I started my career as an actor but was never quite satisfied. One day, I was sitting in Zelda's office having a crisis and Zelda said, "You've always had the eye of a director, I think you should direct. Why don't you come back for another year of education?" At that time, NYU had a directing lab where they would invite three former grads of grad acting for one year of free training in directing. Everything I learned at NYU just gelled, and my career as a director has been so much easier than my career as an actress.

The Nether will host post-show Q&A talks during the play's West End run at the Duke of York's Theatre. With members of the creative team, as well as further guests from the worlds of theatre, the media, gaming and technology industries, there will be 6 Q&A talks after selected performances of the play. Aurora Theatre Company continues its 23rd season with the Bay Area Premiere of Nicky Silver's (Pterodactyls, Raised in Captivity) scathingly funny Broadway hit THE LYONS. Sex Today, Love Tomorrow with book and lyrics by Israela Margalit, music by Oran Eldor and directed by Obie Award winner John Clancy, with musical direction by Dan Green, will get an invite-only industry reading on Monday, November 10 at Ripley Grier Studios.

The first Globe for All free Shakespeare tour will begin today, October 28 and will culminate in three low-cost performances on November 7 - 9 in the Globe's Hattox Hall, part of the Karen and Donald Cohn Education Center in the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center.

The Royal Court Theatre and Headlong's co-production of The Nether by Jennifer Haley is coming to the West End. According to the Daily Mail, the play will run at the Duke of York's Theatre from January 30, 2015, starring original cast members Amanda Hale, Stanley Townsend, Zoe Brough and Isabella Pappas.
