The Colony Hotel - which The Palm Beach Post has hailed as 'probably the best place for cabaret on the planet' - has just launched a new Young Stars Summer Residency Program that will present many of Manhattan's hottest rising cabaret stars every weekend until Labor Day, all of which have been audience favorites during previous Royal Room engagements.

Norman Gimbel may not be a name most pop music fans are familiar with but they might certainly know the songs and film and television themes this great lyricist has written over the decades. 'Killing Me Softly With His Song,' 'Boy From Ipanema!' 'Girl,' 'Meditation,' and 'It Goes Like It Goes' are just a few well-known songs of a man who has won an Academy Award and two Grammys for Song of the Year. Bistro Award winning and MAC Nominated cabaret performer Jeff Macauley is definitely a Norman Gimbel aficionado. In fact, his 2012 show, It Was Me: The Lyrics of Norman Gimbel earned Macauley a BroadwayWorld.com New York Cabaret Award Nomination for 'Best Male Vocalist.' Joined by his same musical collaborators Arnold and Burr, Jeff Macauley is bringing back It Was Me, this time to the Metropolitan Room on Thursday, May 12 at 7 pm.

Raising the bar ever higher, Celia Berk (who in the past year has won “Best Debut” Awards from BroadwayWorld and MAC and received a Bistro Award) celebrated the release of her new CD Manhattan Serenade with the first of four shows at The Metropolitan Room on Sunday night (others are April 10, 17, and 24). Her dream band, helmed by MD/arranger/pianist Alex Rybeck, featured Jered Egan on bass, Dan Gross on percussion, and Dan Willis with his invaluable woodwinds.

Macauley's orchestra for Mr. Lucky is Award-winning Musical Director/pianist and arranger Tex Arnold, with Jon Burr on bass. Now Macauley is bringing Mr. Lucky to Don't Tell Mama on November 21 at 7 pm.

On the heels of a successful run of their first cabaret act, Look Who's in Love, distinguished entertainers Christine Reisner-Rebic (an international cabaret chanteuse and dancer) and Don Rebic (Broadway and cabaret musical director, jazz pianist and composer) took their cabaret act into the recording studio.

For the third night of this year's Cabaret Convention at Town Hall, the uber-enthusiastic Karen Mason hosted Life Is a Cabaret (Directed by Barry Kleinbort) in celebration of long time collaborators, composer John Kander and lyricist Fred Ebb. Introduced to each other by their mutual music publisher in 1962, the team's first Broadway show was 1965's Flora the Red Menace in which Liza Minnelli made her Broadway debut and with which the three began a long association. Their last together (Kander is alive and hopefully writing), was 2015's The Visit starring Chita Rivera, a production Ebb (who died in 2004) unfortunately didn't live to see. Kander and Ebb's best known musicals are Cabaret and Chicago, both of which seem to run forever on popular appeal, but they wrote many others, a wide selection of which were represented at Thursday night's show.

In Mr. Lucky, Jeff Macauley's urbane cabaret show featuring the songs of Henry Mancini, (which recently finished a three-show run at the Metropolitan Room) you learn that the famed composer came by his luck and success the old-fashioned way: single-minded purpose fueled by hard work and determination. Yet, Macauley, a former Bistro Award winner, makes telling Mancini's story look so easy. Debonair in his impeccable suit and fashionable specs, the singer uses a light touch to deliver songs he was determined to bring out of the background and into the spotlight.

Stars of New York's Cabaret and theatre worlds will perform the songs of renowned composer/arranger Larry Kerchner in the fourth edition of 'Hidden Treasures: Songs of Larry Kerchner.'

The latest rendering, "Hidden Treasures IV," debuts at Birdland on SUNDAY, MAY 31st, 6 p.m. featuring the best of the best of Broadway and Cabaret performers, including Klea Blackhurst (host), Mark Nadler, Alexis Cole, Jim Brochu, Carol J. Bufford, Natalie Douglas, Eric Michael Gillett, Marissa Mulder, Stacy Sullivan, Shana Farr, Karen Oberlin and many more. Tex Arnold musical directs.

Film and stage dancer, actor and singer Judi Mark returns to The Laurie Beechman Theater tonight, November 18, 2014 at 7:00pm.

Noted composer/lyricist/arranger and two-time Grammy Award nominee Larry Kerchner will be celebrated on Sunday, November 30, 2014, at 7 PM at Stage 72 at The Triad, 158 West 72nd Street, in Manhattan. More than a dozen stellar music performers from New York's theatre, cabaret and jazz stages will perform songs with melodies, lyrics and/or arrangements created by Kerchner, at this third annual tribute performance, titled "Hidden Treasures III: More Songs of Larry Kerchner."

Film and stage dancer, actor and singer Judi Mark returns to The Laurie Beechman Theater on November 18, 2014 at 7:00p. DANCING THROUGH LIFE marks Ms. Mark's debut show in the New York City Cabaret Industry.
