Cult-hit Brooklyn band Sky-Pony is led by the husband-and-wife team of Tony nominated writer Kyle Jarrow (bookwriter of Broadway's SpongeBob SquarePants, also creator of the CW television series Valor) and Tony nominated actress-singer Lauren Worsham (Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder). Sky-Pony have been called 'indie-pop aces' (New York Times) and 'a beautiful mash-up of music, choreography, costumes, projections and drama' (Village Voice).

On July 28, 2018, 13 years after its premiere, Santa Fe Opera presented John Adams and Peter Sellars' DOCTOR ATOMIC. This new production featured bass-baritone Ryan McKinny as the volatile scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer. The opera, which takes place during the last few days before the first atomic bomb test, shows Oppenheimer battling with his mental demons as he tried to deal with the impending use of his scientific discovery to destroy an entire city and its inhabitants. McKinny showed the audience the human side of the scientific genius and I doubt that operagoers who saw his portrayal will soon forget it.

Atlantis Theatrical Entertainment Group has announced the full cast for the Tony Award-nominated Broadway musical, SIDE SHOW, which opens on August 31 at Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza, Makati.

Blitz Films and Straight Up Films announce that Stephen Dorff (“True Detective,” BLADE) has been signed to star in director Nick Sarkisov's English-language debut EMBATTLED. Written by David McKenna (AMERICAN HISTORY X, GET CARTER, BLOW), the film also includes McKenna's son, Colin, who was born with Williams Syndrome and inspired a supporting role for the film. Sarkisov is set to produce for Blitz Films, alongside Kate Cohen for Straight Up Films, and Scott LaStaiti, with Blitz co-founder Sergey Sarkisov and Dorff serving as executive producers. Eryl Cochran from Blitz Films will oversee production. The film is scheduled to shoot in Alabama this September.

BEDLAM announces the new production of UNCLE ROMEO VANYA JULIET. This new theatrical mashup of ROMEO & JULIET and UNCLE VANYA will kick off Bedlam's 2018/2019 season instead of the previously announced ROMEO & JULIET and UNCLE VANYA in repertory. The cast for UNCLE ROMEO VANYA JULIET will feature Edmund Lewis, Susannah Millonzi, Randolph Curtis Rand, Zuzanna Szadkowski and Eric Tucker.

Master Illusionist  Ivan Amodei will launch a eight-city North American tour of his brand new show Secrets & Illusions  with the first performance set for October 6, 2018 in Thousand Oaks, California.  Cities announced through Spring of 2019 will include San Diego, Santa Barbara, San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, Baltimore and Washington, DC.

Local master illusionist David Caserta, star of the State Theatre's annual Halloween spectacular Haunted Illusions, will make a special appearance to State Theatre Acting Camp students on Thursday, July 12th  in the State Theatre's main hall. There will be two sessions:  11:45 am - 12:30pm for the morning session students and 1:30pm - 2:15 pm for the afternoon students. 

IN & OF ITSELF celebrated its 500th performance on Friday, July 6, 2018 at The Daryl Roth Theatre. The show, which has grossed over $6 million to date in the intimate 150-seat theater, is now in its fourth and final extension, playing through Sunday, August 19, 2018.
