Hackney Empire today releases production images of its sparkling new pantomime production Dick Whittington and his Cat which runs at the East End venue until 5 January 2020, with press night taking place this evening.
Hackney Empire plans to combine its commitment to community and championing of young people with a programme that revives a variety programme for a modern-day audience and celebrates all genres. Since Artistic Director Yamin Choudury and Executive Director Jo Hemmant were appointed in 2018, the theatre has seen an average of 83% new bookers for many productions - a huge achievement for a 1000+ seater theatre in London.
Hackney Empire has announced further casting for Dick Whittington and his Cat and reveal the first cast images of its sparkling new adaptation as it gears up for panto season! Tarinn Callender, who made his West End debut with the original London cast of Hamilton playing Hercules Mulligan and James Madison, will mark his first Hackney panto in the title role of Dick Whittington. The production will also welcome debut panto appearances from Annette McLaughlin (Harry Potter and The Cursed Child) as Queen Rat, Christina Tedders (Once The Musical) as Alice Fitzwarren and Sue Kelvin (Caroline, Or Change) as Fairy Bowbells. As previously announced, they will star alongside Hackney stalwarts Grand Dame Clive Rowe who marks a 13th panto appearance, this year starring as Sarah the Cook, the loveable Kat B as Vincent the Cat and the ever trusty Tony Whittle as Alderman Fitzwarren. Dick Whittington and His Cat will run from 23 November 2019 to 5 January 2020, with opening night for press on Wednesday 4 December 2019.
Stars of the West End, including Aladdin's genie, Trevor Dion Nicholas, who was recently also seen on ITV's All Star Musicals, will be performing in an evening of musical theatre in London as 'Songs for Jeremy' returns to the Southwark Playhouse for the second year running on 12 May, in aid of The Good Grief Trust.
We've had the film, TV and music awards, so now it's the theatre's turn to hand out some prizes. Once again, the Prince of Wales Theatre threw open its doors to some of the most popular productions from the past 12 months, as the WhatsOnStage Awards took place on Sunday evening - the only awards ceremony that hands over all of its voting duties to the public.

Jeffrey Seller and Cameron Mackintosh announce today (25 January 2018) that a new booking period for the London production of HAMILTON will go on sale on Monday 29 January 2018 at 12 noon GMT. Tickets will be available to be purchased for performances from 30 July 15 December 2018 via official HAMILTON ticketing channels. Last month HAMILTON reopened the spectacularly renovated Victoria Palace Theatre.
Hamilton has announced that it will be holding open auditions for its West End production. According to a post on the show's official Facebook page, they are seeking males and females in their 20s and 30s of all ethnic backgrounds.

Hamilton opened its West End production last night and fans are already buzzing about whether or not the show's creator and original star, Lin-Manuel Miranda, plans to join the cast. According to BBC, Miranda said that he would like to come back to the role but it won't be until 2019 at the earliest.

At certain performances, the role of Alexander Hamilton will be played by Ash Hunter.
