Bard College announces the appointment of several distinguished new members of faculty across disciplines this fall. Arthur Aviles '87 joins the faculty as a guest artist in dance. Aviles is an award-winning New York-based dancer and choreographer.

Casting of Goodspeed Musicals' Cyrano is complete. Film and TV actor Blake Jenner will play Christian. He joins previously announced Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning actor Peter Dinklage, who will play Cyrano alongside film actress Haley Bennett as Roxanne in this bold new musical.
Identical twin brothers, Peter and Will Anderson, have kept a pure love of music and discovery from their childhood at the forefront, as they've built successful careers and found their place in the jazz community. Playing the clarinet and saxophone since grade school, this duo went on to study at The Juilliard School, and through the support of their mentors, were introduced to different sounds and styles and guided to performance opportunities all throughout New York City. Building impressive resumes, they have toured all throughout the United States, as well as internationally, and have worked on composing their own music for numerous albums. Inspiring audiences of all ages, these modern-day trailblazers are keeping the legacies of the greats alive by sharing the soulful history and sounds of jazz that have influenced generations.

With support from the Ha Phuong Foundation this year, the newly re-branded NYWIFT Ha Phuong Scholarships provide a $5,000 scholarship each year to a second-year female film student at the Brooklyn College Feirstein School of Cinema, City College of New York, Columbia University, New York University, and the Stony Brook/Killer Films MFA in Film program. Prizes for $2500 each are also given to two undergraduate students from the School of Visual Arts. On May 8th, 2018, Ha Phuong was joined by NYWIFT Board President Simone Pero to present the prizes onstage at the Dusty Awards. The Dusty Awards are the culmination of the SVA's Dusty Film and Animation Festival, an industry showcase of the work of BFA Film and BFA Animation students. Emilie Simonini (BFA Film) and Kira Clines (BFA Animation) received the awards.

Peter and Will Anderson - the identical twins and Juilliard graduates hailed as "virtuosos on clarinet and saxophone" by The New York Times - have announced a return engagement of their SONGBOOK SUMMIT concert series at Symphony Space for a four-week residency from August 7 to September 2. The Andersons and their six-piece ensemble shine the spotlight on four iconic composers (one per week) in a celebration of the Great American Songbook. The show features an engaging video presentation, entertaining narration, and live performances from the jazz sextet featuring vocalist Molly Ryan.
