This August, New York City will host the first ever Classical Bridge, an international music festival, academy and conference designed to build bridges through the music. Three theater veterans who originally connected at the Paul Robeson Theater have come together to present The Trilogy - An Evening of One-Act Plays at the Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre at Symphony Space, June 22-30. Co-produced by playwright Gary Batson (Phoenix Arts) and actor Eugene Daniels (Daniels Productions), this production represents the completion of an idea that was postponed by the untimely death of their third partner Arnold Beauchamp, former artistic director of the Robeson. Now directing the production is Evria Ince-Waldron, also from The Paul Robeson Theater.
THE WANDERER, written by Charles Messina, is a new musical based on the life of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame musician Dion DiMucci. The play chronicles Dion's life from his early years in The Bronx through his rise to fame and confronts Dion's struggles with his musical identity, his battle with drug addiction, his spiritual awakening and his place in Rock n' Roll history. Broadway's MOTOWN: The Musical and Helen Hayes nominee N'Kenge, will be the first to perform a solo show at The Pierre Hotel. She will be collaborating with Musical Director Josh Kight on piano. LADAMA is an ensemble of women musicians from across the Americas who, aside from performing as a touring band, strive to engage the youth in their respective communities in the process of music-making, composition and audio production through collaboration and performance workshops. The musicians are Mafer Bandola (Venezuela), Lara Klaus (Brazil), Daniela Serna (Colombia) and Sara Lucas (U.S.).
