Literary Events For Kids And Teens Announced At Symphony Space

Symphony Space Presents Literary Events for Kids and Teens This Fall and Winter:
A Katherine Marsh Writing Workshop on September 22, and Three Exclusive Evening Events with Authors Markus Zusak, Sarah J. Maas, and Rick Riordan

Known for Selected Shorts and their popular Thalia Kids' Book Club Camps, Symphony Space unites avid young readers (ages 10 and up) with the authors, illustrators, and books that inspire their imaginations.This fall and winter, Symphony Space will present four special author events. Each event includes a creative writing project, a discussion with the audience, and a book-signing.

The literary season for tweens and teens includes a Saturday afternoon workshop and three unique "school night" events with top authors:

Saturday, September 22, 1:30 - 4 pm
Special Thalia Kids' Book Club Camp Event: An Afternoon with Katherine Marsh

Young readers will spend an afternoon with the beloved author of The Night Tourist; Jepp, Who Defied the Stars; and The Door by the Staircase. Marsh's latest middle-grade novel, Nowhere Boy, touches on the timely topic of refugees and immigration through the story of two boys whose worlds collide, changing everything they thought they knew about heroism, hope, and love. This workshop will include a conversation and writing activities with the author, games, a book signing, and more! Ages 10 to 14

Please note: This event is limited to 30 young people, and reservations must be made in advance. The ticket price of $45 includes a copy of the book, which will be mailed to attendees prior to the event.

Wednesday, October 10 at 7 pm
Markus Zusak Bridge of Clay

Tickets: $37, $34 for Symphony Space members.

The storyteller who gave us the extraordinary novel The Book Thief, which spent more than a decade on the New York Times bestseller list, presents his long-awaited new novel - an unforgettable and sweeping family saga. This is Zusak's only New York City appearance, and he will sign copies of the book following the event, which is produced in cooperation with Strand Bookstore. Special bonus: All tickets come with a copy of Bridge of Clay.

Sarah J. Maas Kingdom of Ash

Bestselling author Rick Riordan (Percy Jackson and the Olympians) brings together Roshani Chokshi (Aru Shah and the End of Time), J.C. Cervantes (The Storm Runner), and Yoon Ha Li (Dragon Pearl), the first three authors under his new imprint, Rick Riordan Presents, for an exciting one-night-only event celebrating mythology and folklore from around the world.

These literary events are an important part of the offerings for families and young people at Symphony Space. The Just Kidding season also begins in October, with a range of music, dance, comedy and children's theater events every weekend through March 2019.
