Connecticut Repertory Theatre Presents Presents A CIVIL WAR CHRISTMAS

Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT) continues its 2018-19 season with Paula Vogel's "A Civil War Christmas: An American Musical Celebration." Elizabeth VanDyke will direct. Cincinnati Pops Orchestra to Release Latest Album, American Originals: 1918 on Today

The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra announced the November 9 release of its latest album, American Originals: 1918, under the direction of Pops Conductor John Morris Russell. The recording is inspired by America's cultural awakening at the end of the First World War one hundred years ago and the distinctly American musical styles that reflect the country's diversity. This album celebrates and reimagines popular songs of this era that remain fresh and relevant today with acclaimed musical collaborators including Rhiannon Giddens, Steep Canyon Rangers and Pokey LaFarge. The 95th Cincinnati Pops album was recorded live at Cincinnati Music Hall November 10- 12, 2017, and is being released on the Orchestra's label, Fanfare Cincinnati.

DECK THE WALLS: A Simply Barbra's Holiday Show Comes to Birdland

Start off the holidays on Tuesday, December 4th at 7:00 PM, at the Birdland Theater, 315 West 44th, NY with  Steven Brinberg in the latest edition of Simply Barbra, his acclaimed all-live homage to the legendary Barbra Streisand. This new show Merry Hanukkah/Happy Christmas Show celebrates the upcoming Holidays as well as a celebration of various hits.  Musical Director is Christopher Denny and there will be a guest tba.  The cover charge is $30. There is a $10 minimum. For tickets, please visit www.BirdlandJazz.com. 

Heidi Blickenstaff, Michael Park & More Join Sutton Foster and Gavin Creel in MY ONE AND ONLY

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director/CEO) has just announced that Heidi Blickenstaff ('Mickey'), Ted Louis Levy ('Mr. Magix'), Michael Park ('Prince Nicolai') and Lance Roberts ('Rev. J.D. Montgomery') have joined Sutton Foster ('Edythe Herbert') and Gavin Creel ('Captain Billy Buck Chandler') in a special one-night-only Benefit Musical Performance of My One and Only, the award-winning musical comedy by Peter Stone and Timothy S. Mayer with music and lyrics by George and Ira Gershwin.

THE JONATHAN LARSON PROJECT Will Get Album Release in 2019!

Ghostlight Records has announced that it will record The Jonathan Larson Project to be released in early 2019. The album will be based on a concert originally presented at Feinstein's/54 Below, directed and conceived by Jennifer Ashley Tepper, and featuring music supervision, orchestrations and arrangements by Charlie Rosen. The show features the music of the late composer Jonathan Larson, who wrote Rent and tick tick BOOM, the former an iconic Broadway landmark and the latter a beloved musical gem. The Jonathan Larson Project is an evening of Jonathan's unheard work featuring songs from never-produced shows like 1984 and Superbia; songs that were cut from Rent and tick tick BOOM; songs written for theatrical revues and songs written for the radio; songs about politics and love and New York City; songs never before publicly performed or recorded. The album will be produced by Jennifer Ashley Tepper, Charlie Rosen and Kurt Deutsch.

Ashley Brown Joins The New York Pops for UNDER THE MISTLETOE this December

The New York Pops celebrates the holidays with Under the Mistletoe, on Friday, December 21 and Saturday, December 22 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall. The orchestra, led by Music Director Steven Reineke, is joined by Ashley Brown (Broadway's original Mary Poppins, and Belle in the Broadway version of Disney's Beauty and the Beast) for a concert of classic and contemporary carols including "Deck the Halls," "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year," "Winter Wonderland", and "O Holy Night." Ashley and The New York Pops will also be joined by Judith Clurman's Essential Voices USA, who are featured on a Hanukkah Medley, as well as other seasonal favorites. 

Broadway At The Pierre Celebrates HAMILTON

The Pierre New York, A Taj Hotel's acclaimed cabaret series, Broadway At The Pierre, continues this month with a celebration of HAMILTON: An American Musical. On Monday November 5th, the iconic five-star hotel will welcome Hamilton alums Sasha Hutchings and Hope Easterbrook for a special one night only performance.

High School Drama: Hume-Fogg Academic High School's AVA LOCKNAR

Very few actors can boast the resume, replete with some of the most iconic roles in musical theater, of Hume-Fogg Academic High School's Ava Locknar. Now a senior in Daron Bruce's and Lisa Forbis' renowned musical theatre program at the school, Ava's been at home on Broadway - albeit Nashville's Broadway - for four years, although it doesn't take much of a stretch of the imagination to envision her on the Great White Way, taking on more musical theater challenges.
