Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati Reveals Winner of the 2023 Jackie Demaline Regional Collegiate Playwriting Competition

Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati (ETC) is pleased to announce the winner of the fifth annual PLAY/write: The Jackie Demaline Regional Collegiate Playwriting Competition. The annual collegiate competition nurtures local aspiring dramatists who are helping to shape the future of American theatre and provides a $2,500 juried cash award to support the early work and career of each winner along with staged professional readings of their scripts.

A COMEDY OF TENORS Comes to Florida Studio Theatre

Florida Studio Theatre will present Ken Ludwig's A Comedy of Tenors, an over-the-top comedy full of mistaken identities, blissful romance, and madcap delight. It is 1930s Paris and the stage is set for “the concert of the century,” where the world's top three tenors are going to deliver a once-in-a-lifetime performance.

Tapestry Opera, Nightwood Theatre, St. Clare's Receive $1.25 Million From City Of Toronto

Tapestry Opera, Nightwood Theatre, St. Clare's have announced a significant contribution toward their new downtown arts hub at 877 Yonge Street. With the help of Councillor Dianne Saxe, the ABC Residents Association (ABCRA), and The Greater Yorkville Residents Association (GYRA), the City of Toronto has allocated $1.25 million in Section 37 funds to build the dynamic arts facility by the 2024-2025 season. The ABCRA has committed to raise an additional $250,000 in support of construction. 

Cast Set for A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM at Shakespeare & Company

The cast has been revealed for Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream at Shakespeare & Company, directed by Artistic Director Allyn Burrows and staged August 1 through September 10, opening Friday, August 4 outdoors at the New Spruce Theatre.

League of Chicago Theatres to Host Career Fair This Month

The League of Chicago Theatres has announced a free Theatre Industry Career Fair at the Mundelein Center for Fine and Performing Arts at Loyola University, 1020 W. Sheridan Rd in Chicago.  The event opens with a panel discussion, “Different Journeys through the Performing Arts Landscape” at 1pm followed by a tabling event, including information sessions with Chicago theatre professionals, resume reviews, speed interviews, headshot photography and more from 2pm-5pm.

What did our critic think of JIMMY BUFFETT'S ESCAPE TO MARGARITAVILLE at The Studio Theatre? Broadway World took a two-hour vacation with JIMMY BUFFETT’S ESCAPE TO MARGARITAVILLE Thursday, June 22, at the Studio Theatre, 320 W 7th St, in Little Rock. We were all partying to this jukebox musical, singing along to the hits, making new friends, and sipping on our tasty margaritas. The only thing missing was a nice juicy cheeseburger. 

4 Broadway Shows Close Today

Broadway says goodbye to four productions. Leopoldstadt takes its final bow at the Longacre Theatre following 19 previews and 313 regular performances; Fat Ham will conclude its run at the American Airlines Theatre following 21 previews and 95 regular performances; Prima Facie wraps up at the John Golen Theatre following 14 previews and 81 regular performances; and The Sign in Sidney Brustein's Window will end its run at the James Earl Jones Theatre following 3 previews and 77 regular performances.

Featuring more than a dozen chart-topping songs from the past eight decades, Off the Charts! explores music’s ability to make us think, feel, and connect across generations.
