Cast members from "The Understudy" will be guest speakers at Westport Country Playhouse's Sunday Symposium on August 19, following a 3 p.m. performance of the backstage comedy about a Hollywood action star making his Broadway debut amid tensions with his understudy.  The recent Off-Broadway hit is written by Theresa Rebeck, creator of NBC's show business drama "Smash."

Westport Country Playhouse will open its 2018 Season with an uplifting tale of bravery, pride, and sisterhood, "Flyin' West," written by Pearl Cleage and directed by Seret Scott, playing May 29 through June 16.  This year marks the historic theater's 88th season.

Alec Baldwin and Kelli O'Hara starred in Westport Country Playhouse's Spring Gala performance of A. R. Gurney's play, “Love Letters,” on Thursday, April 12, at 7 p.m. The one-night-only fundraising event honored the memory of playwright A. R. “Pete” Gurney, who was a consistent contributor to the Playhouse stage, with 21 works produced there from 1980 through 2016. Gurney died last June at age 86.

Westport Country Playhouse's New Works Circle Initiative (NWCI) continues in its third consecutive year of developing new plays and musicals, culminating in readings before an invited audience. The 2018 NWCI schedule includes four new plays to be developed with playwrights, directors, and other artists during the next six months.

Sex with Strangers, a romantic drama about ambition and fame in the digital age, will be staged at Westport Country Playhouse, from September 26 through October 14. The play is written by Laura Eason, who is best known for four seasons as a writer/producer on the Netflix drama House of Cards. Sex with Strangers is one of the most-produced plays in the U.S. in '15-'16 and '16-'17 seasons with more than 50 separate productions. The director is Katherine M. Carter. The play includes adult themes and language.

Ragtime is an epic musical that characterizes the changing times in America at the turn of the last century. Curtain Call's production will continue in The Kweskin Theatre through October 22 at the Sterling Farms Theatre Complex, 1349 Newfield Avenue, Stamford.
