First performed at Dallas Theater Center in 2015, Samuel D. Hunter’s three-hander play Clarkston makes its British première in a production at Trafalgar Theatre, which is directed by Jack Serio. Set in the Washington state town of Clarkston, the lives of Connecticut native Jake and nearby Lewistonian Chris are intertwined as they find themselves working the nightshift together at Costco; both have secrets that they are trying to hide from - but does the answer lie in stacking shelves?
Clarkston, a new play by Samuel D. Hunter, arrives at the Trafalgar Theatre later this month. Directed by Jack Serio, the show, described as a “modern frontier story,” follows Jake [Joe Locke], who meets Chris [Ruaridh Mollica], in a Costco in Clarkston, Washington. Recently, we had the chance to speak with Sophie Melville, who will be playing Trisha. We discussed how she first got started in the world of theatre, what it’s like to perform new work versus classics like Shakespeare and how she gets into character for her roles.

Clearly this is a supernatural ‘what if?’, but it raises some interesting questions and lays bare some unpleasant truths - in society at large, and even in the audience.

All in all, Cowbois isn’t a bad play. It’s a fun and gimmicky queer-affirming semi-comedy that makes for a good night out if you’re willing to close an eye here and there. It’s weird and long, but it means well.
The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) and Royal Court Theatre have announced the London transfer of Charlie Josephine's rollicking queer western Cowbois.
Cowbois might sound like a reboot of Sister Act but there is far more going under the satin bonnets. Gunslinger Jack Cannon (Vinnie Heaven) arrives in a small Wild West-era outpost, handsome by appearance, fearsome by reputation and with a bounty of 200 dollars on their head. The town is populated only by women and a drunken sheriff (Paul Hunter), their menfolk having been gone for over a year and presumed dead after a mine blast.
