Savannah VOICE Festival Launches VIRTUALLY LIVE Series

Today, the Savannah VOICE Festival (SVF) announces a new initiative to offer lovers of the vocal arts, live music online during these times of social distancing as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic. VOICExperience Announces Postponement Of NY Program Due To Coronavirus Threat

In response to health concerns and changing travel conditions due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) threat, VOICExperience has made the difficult decision to postpone the March 15-22, 2020 New York Opera as Drama program of events. This week-long program of events, which would have concluded with the fifth annual Voice Gala on March 23 at the Harmonie Club, will be rescheduled for the first half of November 2020. 

Fifth Annual VOICE Gala Slated for March at the Harmonie Club

The fifth annual VOICE Gala is slated for March 23, 2020 in a regal culmination of the weeklong program of VOICExperience's Opera As Drama program. This annual gala, which supports scholarships for the Milnes VOICE Programs, will take place at the Harmonie Club, one of New York City's oldest, private social clubs, located at 4 East 60th Street in Manhattan.

Maryland Lyric Opera Orchestra Will Have its Debut Symphonic Performance With Legendary Pianist Leon Fleisher

Botox isn't just for beauty! Witness an unforgettable performance by legendary pianist a?" and medical miracle a?" Leon Fleisher alongside the Maryland Lyric Opera (MDLO) Orchestra in its debut symphonic performance on Nov. 12, 2019, 7:30 pm at The Music Center at Strathmore. Conducted by MDLO Music Director Louis Salemno, the Kennedy Center Honoree and Oscar-nominated Fleisher will join the MDLO in a performance of Mozart's Piano Concerto No 12. Salemno will also lead the MDLO in performances of Mozart's iconic Overture from Le Nozze de Figaro; Debussy's Preludes a l'apres-midi d'un faune; and Sibelius' Symphony No. 2 in D Major, Op. 43. Fleisher made his public debut with the New York Philharmonic at just 16 years old. By age 36, Fleisher's right hand was barely mobile, and he was diagnosed with focal dystonia, a devastating neurological condition that caused involuntary muscular contractions. The diagnosis left Fleisher in despair only temporarily; after a few years, he turned to teaching, conducting, and left-handed piano performances. After nearly four decades, aided by Botox injections in his right hand, Fleisher returned to the stage as a two-handed piano soloist officially in 2005, performing 40 concerts in 31 cities. The Solti Foundation U.S. Honors Elizabeth Buccheri with Naming of Opera Residency Program

Last night during the regularly scheduled meeting, The Board of The Solti Foundation U.S. acknowledged the dedication and hard work of Artistic and Awards Committee Chair Elizabeth Buccheri by naming the Foundation's Opera Residency Programin her honor.The program, an expansion of the organization's work to help award recipients further develop their talent and careers, is the brainchild of Ms. Buccheri. Introduced in the 2014-15 season, the program places former Foundation award recipients with a distinguished U.S. opera house for one-on-one mentoring and coaching of an opera during the company's professional season. Conductors cannot apply to the program but are instead selected by the Artistic and Awards Committee.

New York City Opera Presents a film noir L'AMORE DEI TRE RE

New York City Opera presents a new production of Italo Montemezzi's masterpiece L'amore dei tre re (The Love of the Three Kings) directed by Michael Capasso with Pacien Mazzagatti leading the New York City Opera Orchestra. The production marks the first time Montemezzi's opera will be heard in New York City in nearly a decade. Four performances of L'amore dei tre re will be presented at the Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center on April 12 and 13 at 7:30 p.m., April 14 at 2:00 p.m., and April 15 a 4:00 p.m.

New York City Opera Presents IL PIGMALIONE By Donizetti And PIGMALION By Rameau

New York City Opera continues its 2017-18 Chamber Opera Series with a unique double bill of Donizetti's Il Pigmalione and Rameau's Pigmalion, the first time these one-act gems will be presented on the same program. The production also marks the New York premiere of Donizetti's first opera. This double bill will be directed and choreographed by Richard Stafford, with Gil Rose conducting the New York City Opera Orchestra and Chorus. Two performances of Il Pigmalione/Pigmalion will be presented at the Gerald W. Lynch Theater on Saturday, March 24 at 3:00 p.m. and Sunday, March 25 at 4:00 p.m.
