PlayPenn, Philadelphia's artist-driven organization dedicated to improving the way in which new plays are developed, has announced their Summer 2017 education offerings, including several opportunities to 'binge learn' during curated packages created especially for ambitious students.

Then you won't want to miss the Maltz Jupiter Theatre's staged reading of Goy Toy, a coming-of-age story about a young couple torn apart by religion by South Florida playwright Hannah Benitez. The play reading will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, June 19, in the Theatre's upstairs Green Room Club Level Lounge. The event is free and open to the public, though reservations are required by calling the box office.

Beginning one week after the election, Primary Stages commissioned a collection of over 70 pieces written by a diverse array of playwrights from their artistic community. Each artist crafted a short monologue from the perspective of a character in America on the morning of November 9th.  Undertaking MORNING IN AMERICA acutely reflects the responsibility and capability of a non-profit, artist-focused organization to respond directly and rapidly to current events. Through readings, talk-backs and roundtable discussions, Primary Stages strives to create an accessible and energetic space where artists and audiences can come together as a community to share their stories and process their experiences.

The Boston College Theatre Department will host Tony Award winner Diane Paulus, who will give a lecture at the University's Robsham Theater Arts Center on Thursday, February 9 at 8 p.m. The event is open to the public, free of charge.

Primary Stages has announced MORNING IN AMERICA, November 9, 9:00 AM - a series of one-minute monologues created by the Primary Stages community of playwrights in response to the 2016 election.

Local dignitaries, elected officials and Bucks County Playhouse (BCP) supporters gathered by the river and participated in a groundbreaking ceremony hosted by Tony Award-winning Broadway producers who now manage the Playhouse -- Alexander Fraser, Producing Director ('Kinky Boots', 'The Normal Heart') and Robyn Goodman, Executive Producer ('Avenue Q', 'In the Heights'). It was Cupcakes Galore yesterday, August 16, 2016, when the best of Bucks County bakeries competed in a Cupcake-Off, the first ever cupcake competition at Bucks County Playhouse. Broadway, TV and film star Justin Guarini, taking on the role of his character in Cake Off, the new musical at the Bucks County Playhouse opening this weekend, hosted the competition, while the rest of the cast and the Alex Fraser, Producing Director of BCP, judged. Broadway, television and film star Justin Guarini returns to Bucks County Playhouse when he joins Tony nominee Euan Morton, Barrymore winner Michele Ragusa and newcomer Aidan J. Lawrence at Bucks County Playhouse for 'Cake Off,' a new musical by Sheri Wilner, Julia Jordan and Adam Gwon. 'Cake Off', directed by Gaye Taylor Upchurch, will preview on August 19, with opening night August 20 and run through September 10, 2016.

A Modish Ripoff of William Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, opening the not-for-profit organization's 20th anniversary season in the Gil Cates Theater. Written by Pulitzer Prize finalist and Emmy Award nominated writer Rolin Jones (Friday Night Lights, Boardwalk Empire) with songs by Grammy Award winner Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong and staged by Jackson Gay, THESE PAPER BULLETS! was commissioned by Yale Repertory Theatre where it premiered in 2014.
