On Sunday, March 15, 2020, Michael Holmes finished another sold-out performance of the signature “The Judy Show!” at Palm Springs’ Purple Room Supper Club — according to legend the first place “The Rat Pack” of Sinatra fame first performed. Little did Holmes realize his makeup jar would stay closed for 18 COVID enforced months. Now, assisted by a successful GoFundMe campaign fueled by fans from around the world, Holmes and a full season of internationally renowned performers will relaunch the famous and acclaimed venue beginning August 31 including two performances by the incredible Sam Harris  on September 3 and 4.

Deep Sea Diver was recently featured on NPR Music’s Tiny Desk (Home) concerts, performing three tracks from their acclaimed 2020 LP Impossible Weight as well as the standalone single “Stop Pretending” - which was named one of NPR Music’s 100 Best Songs of 2020.

The UK Tour will recommence  its travels around the country, opening at The Lowry from 1 September and visiting 24 venues  including a four-week Christmas season in Brighton. The tour will also pause for six weeks in January  as the show opens in Los Angeles for a run at the prestigious Ahmanson Theatre. The UK tour will then  recommence playing to end May 2022. A second UK tour is planned for 2023.

Moonstone Theatre Company has announced their inaugural season for 2021-2022 in their new home at the beautiful new Kirkwood Performing Arts Center (KPAC, 210 E. Monroe Ave, Kirkwood). This season will shine a light on mental health and the family through the lens of theatre with three insightful shows all performed in the KPAC Blackbox.

The live album arrives this fall on October 1st and features performances by  Charles Bradley, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, Naomi Shelton, Antibalas, The Budos Band, Menahan Street Band, Sugarman 3, Saun & Starr, and the Como Mamas. 

The show will run on a public YouTube stream; no special software or applications are needed for viewing. Audience members may be able to stream directly to television screens via smart TVs or services such as Fire TV and Roku and should check with their streaming provider for instruction.  

Ms. McCune is a mainstay of Pittsburgh theater, having performed recently for Pittsburgh Public Theatre, Quantum, PICT, Bricolage Production Company, The REP and Pittsburgh Shakespeare in the Parks. Regionally, Ms. McCune has worked with Barter Theater, Ensemble Theater of Cincinnati, First-Stage Milwaukee, Phoenix Theater, Stage One, New Harmony Theater, American Players Theater, Native Voices at the Autry, Academy for New Musical Theater, Theater Neo, and the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company.

Theatre 40 will be presenting a staged reading of Gary Kaskel’s ANOTHER GIN GAME starring Ed Asner and Ruta Lee with Donté Ashon Green July 18, 2021. I have the delightful pleasure of talking to Ed, not only on ANOTHER GIN GAME, but on highlights of his incredibly long-lasting acting career. When I tried to thank him for all the previous times he’s graciously posed for my camera and chatted with me at various charity events, he playfully deflected with, “But I’m a son of a bitch now!”
