Midtown Direct Rep (MDR) continues its 2016-17 staged reading series, Theater at The Woodland, with a presentation of TORN ASUNDER, written by Obie Award-winner Nikkole Salter and directed by Janeece Freeman Clark. This staged reading will be performed for one night only on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at 7pm at The Woodland (60 Woodland Rd. Maplewood, NJ), where MDR is the resident theater company. The reading is $15 (advance purchase), $20 (if purchased at the door) and open to the public. Student/Senior discounts are also available. For a generation, M. Night Shyamalan changed the way that people viewed movies. With the words, 'I see dead people,' he became one of the most fascinating filmmakers in Hollywood, and, for a five-year period, rode nearly universal critical and box office success to near-superstardom. However, even though 2004's THE VILLAGE did a healthy $257 million at the box office, it was his most critically derided film to that point.

Midtown Direct Rep (MDR) is excited to announce a new partnership with the Township of Maplewood. Beginning with the 2016-17 season, MDR will present its staged readings and other productions as the resident theater company of The Woodland (60 Woodland Rd. in Maplewood, NJ). MDR's newly named staged reading series, "Theater at The Woodland", will take place in the Parlor, and larger productions, such as the well-known annual event Listen To Your Mother, will be held in the Great Hall.

Kaufman Music Center's annual showcase of some of the best new musicals headed to New York theaters will include shows by Academy Award Winner and 'Let It Go' songwriter KRISTEN ANDERSON-LOPEZ ('Frozen') and RICK ELICE ('Jersey Boys,' 'Peter and the Starcatcher'), plus music director ANDY EINHORN ('Bullets Over Broadway, 'Sondheim on Sondheim' & the upcoming 'Hello, Dolly' starring Bette Midler). Featuring performances by BETSY WOLFE ('Falsettos'), SEBASTIAN ARCELUS ('Jersey Boys,' TV series 'House of Cards' and 'Madam Secretary'), DREW GEHLING ('Waitress') and many more.

Sebastian Arcelus has been upped to a series regular. He plays Jay Whitman, Secretary of State Elizabeth McCord's (Tea Leoni) foreign policy advisor and an essential member of her State Department team.
