Sonia Friedman has today announced that The Shark is Broken has recouped, as the critically acclaimed play comes to a triumphant end at the Ambassadors Theatre.  Like the famously turbulent shoot of the movie JAWS, The Shark is Broken made it to the West End against all odds after the initial 2020 run was postponed due to the pandemic, before steering a course through the many crises and disruptions the theatre industry has faced since.

These Shining Lives, based on the book The Radium Girls by Kate Moore, chronicles the historic strength, heroism and determination of the women at the Radium Dial Company during the 1920s - 1930s. Catherine and her colleagues are becoming gravely ill by the day, but only through the acts of these brave and courageous women and their male allies were these women able to fight their town, the press, the medical community, and the corporation. Theirs is an inspirational story of survival in its most transcendent sense, as they refuse to allow the company that stole their health to kill their spirits or endanger the lives of those that come after them. Over 400 guests including current and past New York City high school students and their mentors who have participated in the TDF Wendy Wasserstein Project, the theatre arts mentoring program, (formerly called "Open Doors"), that TDF founded in 1998 with playwright Wendy Wasserstein, will attend this year's graduation ceremony at 5:30pm on Monday, June 3at The Gerald W. Lynch Theater at John Jay College (524 West 59th Street, NYC). The graduation ceremony will open with a performance by Aisha Jackson who covers the role of Anna in Disney's Frozen.
