The infamously fierce, feminist pioneers of American grunge punk have announced a documentary film, directed by award-winning documentary filmmaker, Sarah Price (American Movie, The Yes Men, Summercamp) Titled L7: Pretend We're Dead, the film takes viewers on an all access journey into the 1990's grunge movement that took the world by storm and the band that helped define it as the genre of a generation. Today they launch a Kickstarter, offering fans a remarkable array of rewards- including a potential séance with the band- as thanks for helping to fund the project.

Lifeline Theatre presents a world premiere adaptation of Terry Pratchett's Monstrous Regiment, by ensemble member Chris Hainsworth, and directed by Kevin Theis (two-time Non-Equity Jeff Award nominee). Borogravia is at war. Again. When Polly Perks' brother goes missing in action, she cuts off her hair, stuffs a sock down her breeches, and enlists, hoping to find him. Passing successfully as a young man, she soon discovers that she's not alone in protecting a secret and that nothing in the improbable war is as it seems. Scrambling to survive both the enemy and their untried officer, Polly's misfit company makes its way to the front, where it might just prove to be the least likely regiment to ever win a battle. A wickedly funny look at the absurdities of war and ambiguities of identity, brought to life by a cast of eleven actors, including Lifeline Theatre ensemble members Robert Kauzlaric, Katie McLean Hainsworth, and Christopher M. Walsh.

'Solstice,' especially when interpreted with as much depth and heart as A Red Orchid's current production, is excellent fodder for play-analysts' theses and leaves its audience with just as much material for post-play discussion.

The Theatre School at DePaul University proudly presents the U.S. premiere of The Monster Under the Bed, by Kevin Dyer, directed by David Catlin, as the second installment of the 2010-2011 Chicago Playworks for Families and Young Audiences Series. This production opens Tuesday, January 11, and runs through Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at DePaul's historic Merle Reskin Theatre. Performances are Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 10 AM and Saturdays at 2 PM. There will be no performances on January 22, 25, 27, or 29.
