DePaul's Theatre School Presents THE MONSTER UNDER THE BED, 1/11 - 3/1

The Theatre School at DePaul University proudly presents the U.S. premiere of The Monster Under the Bed, by Kevin Dyer, directed by David Catlin, as the second installment of the 2010-2011 Chicago Playworks for Families and Young Audiences Series. This production opens Tuesday, January 11, and runs through Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at DePaul's historic Merle Reskin Theatre. Performances are Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 10 AM and Saturdays at 2 PM. There will be no performances on January 22, 25, 27, or 29.

When Ben's father leaves for war and the separation and distance become overwhelming, Ben's imagination takes over. This powerful yet funny story of Ben, Monster, and Dad Monster explores the reality of facing our fears and acknowledging the monsters under all of our beds. Recommended for ages 6 and up.

The cast features Pamela Davis (Ben's Mum/Miss Rowlands), Dan Johnson (Luke Monster), Mark Lancaster (Dad Monster), Clancy McCartney (Anthony/Danny/Celine's Dog/Ben's Dad), Manny Ortiz (Ben), and Sarah Price (Celine).

The production staff includes David Catlin (Director), Williams Weaver (Scenic and Costume Design), Zachary LeDuc (Lighting Design), Victoria DeIorio (Sound Design), Anna Bosy and Tiffany Wilson (Dramaturgy), Eva Breneman (Vocal Coach), and Luke Ricca (Stage Management).

David Catlin (Director) is a member of Lookingglass Theatre Company where he served as Artistic Director from 2003 - 2010. Lookingglass directing credits include: Lookingglass Alice, Icarus, Metamorphosis, the idiot and West. Regional directing credits include: The ALLIANCE THEATRE (Atlanta), Syracuse Stage, Actors Theatre of Louisville, The Arden Theatre (Philadelphia), The New Victory (NYC), and The McCarter (Princeton, NJ). As an actor, David was recently seen on stage at Lookingglass in Arabian Nights, Our Town, and Argonautika. He appeared in the films Since You've Been Gone for Lookingglass/Miramax and Humanoid with Dark Harbor Stories. David lives in Chicago with his wife Kerry and daughters Saylor and Emerson. He is on the faculty at Northwestern University and teaches Acting.
