This past Saturday evening, I had the great pleasure to see Ben Vereen perform at the Catalina Bar & Grill. When I first heard where he would be, I wondered why he chose a Jazz Club. Now I know why. Ben Vereen not only has decades of hit Broadway Shows, TV Series, Nightclub Acts, Awards and Accolades to his repertoire, but from that he has still kept his initial joy and exuberance in performing, yet taken his showmanship to another level.

As a way of introducing myself as the new DANCE REVIEWER for Broadway World L. A., I am reporting on an historic event in which I participated at St. Luke's Theatre on March 26th, 2018 in NYC: the 40th-year anniversary and reunion of the cast members of the opening of Tony Award-Winning Bob Fosse's DANCIN' on Broadway at The Broadhurst Theatre on March 27, 1978.

Tony Award-winning actress BEBE NEUWIRTH will host the 40th Anniversary and reunion of the original cast of Bob Fosse's DANCIN' on March 26th at 7 PM at St. Luke's Theatre, 308 West 46th Street, NYC. The evening, presented by Dancers Over 40, will feature members of the original Broadway cast as well as others that joined the show during the run. Ms. Neuwirth appeared in DANCIN' during the final four months of the Broadway engagement.

DANCIN' opened on Broadway on March 27, 1978 and ran for four years, and was Bob Fosse's only all-dancing and all-singing musical. To mark this historic event, Dancers Over 40 will assemble a spectacular 'once-in-a-lifetime' panel of original cast members almost exactly to the day of their 1978 debut - March 26, 2018, 7pm at St. Luke's Theater, 308 West 46th Street.

The Professional Dancers Society's (PDS) Gypsy Awards Luncheon, honoring singer, dancer and choreographer Paula Abdul, legendary entertainer Dick Van Dyke, and famed choreographers Kevin Carlisle and Carl Jablonski, took place on April 24, 2016 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. The circus is in town and I ain't talking about Barnum & Bailey! The national tour of the 2013 revival of PIPPIN made its way to the Bayou City and I'm hippopotamusly happy to see this tour! When creative geniuses such as Bob Fosse and Stephen Schwartz are at the helm of the original material, there's no denying that a musical theatre maven such as myself would be overzealous.

The production played 3 nights - July 31, August 1 and August 2 to cheering crowds, but the crazy part is - the final dress is done at 10am, in broad daylight and is open to the public, as the venue is a county-owned facility. People showed up in droves, for the run-through and cheered on the actors, the Hollywood Bowl orchestra and conductor Kevin Stites, who you will see is wearing a black, casual shirt for the rehearsal. The show's director, Richard Jay-Alexander, made a brief speech before the run, welcoming everybody, and in this exclusive footage, I was also able to catch him, in his dressing room, before the Opening Night performance.
