The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts announces a week of free Millennium Stage performances that pay tribute to the 2019 Kennedy Center Honorees. Events include a film screening in honor of Sally Field (December 3), a Michael Tilson Thomas tribute concert (December 4 at 8 p.m.; note alternate time), a showcase of Linda Ronstadt's most beloved songs (December 5), The Earth, Wind & Fire tribute band (December 6), and a sing-along in honor of Sesame Street (December 7).

The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute® (Anna Strasberg, Artistic Director) will host its 50th Anniversary Celebration, “THE NEXT 50 YEARS,” on Monday, November 4, 2019 in the Rosenthal Pavilion overlooking Washington Square Park at New York University (60 Washington Square South). The celebration is a gala benefit for The Lee Strasberg Creative Center®, which has provided scholarships to students for 42 years. The evening will be hosted by Honorary Co-Chairs Alec Baldwin and Marlo Thomas, with Mr. Baldwin making a special award presentation to renowned teacher Geoffrey Horne. The program will also feature appearances by Ellen Burstyn, and Renée Taylor.

In celebration of its 40th Anniversary Filmfest, Aspen Film will present its first-ever Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in the Cinematic Arts to Bob Rafelson – renegade and ground-breaking director, producer, and writer whose career spans four decades. Rafelson was the first recipient of Aspen Film's Independent by Nature award in 1999 so it is only fitting that 20 years later he will be honored again, looking back at his incredible career. The tribute will take place on Wednesday, September 25 at 5:00pm at the Wheeler Opera House.

Jacqueline Novak: Get On Your Knees, written by and starring Jacqueline Novak, has extended its limited run to October 6th, due to overwhelming ticket sales and rave reviews. This will be the final extension and the show must close on that date. The show, 'a standup comedy set that inclines towards theater (New York Times),' plays the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, between Hudson and Bleecker Streets), having transferred from the Cherry Lane Theatre, where the whole run sold out. Jacqueline Novak: Get on Your Knees is presented by Natasha Lyonne, and executive produced by Mike Birbiglia. Mike Lavoie, Carlee Briglia and Abingdon Theatre Company are producers.

Majestic Theater Announces 2019-2020 National Theatre Live Lineup

Literary adaptations, a Shakespearian classic, and appearances by award-winning Hollywood stars highlight the vibrant National Theatre Live programming scheduled to light up the cinema screen at Gettysburg College's Majestic Theater during the 2019-2020 season. National Theatre Live is a groundbreaking project to broadcast the best of British theater to cinemas around the world, including the Majestic. The new season kicks off September 23. All plays are shown at 12:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
